The Rittenhouse case is completely different. First, it was obvious case of self defense. Second, it was clear case prosecutorial over-reach. This case wasn’t self defense and the prosecutors recommended a lesser sentence because he “didn’t intend to kill him”….but isn’t that the definition of the laws/sentencing guidelines for manslaughter?

Not to derail this thread, but I never found that possible. We here knew the total details of 90% of what eventually came out in trial a coupe of days after the shooting, as we all had access to the various videos of that night. Anyone even remotely interested in the case knew from a day or so after that all three guys he shot were white as Larry Bird.
To not have not known that was willful ignorance.

My friend had no criminal record, and very involved in the community. Really good guy with a young family and a career in law in front of him.
He had a couple too many one night and tried to drive home, had a wreck and killed someone.
He spent an entire 10 years in prison.
He didn't mean to kill someone, he didn't intentionally crash into the guy. He served 10 years.
It makes no sense that this cat intentionally struck someone who ended up dead but only gets 2 years?
What am I missing?
