Everyone with vomiting and a fever is going to believe that they have ebola because they stepped foot in Texas or talked to a black guy.

Especially if that Black person has a foreign accent.

Not upsetting. It is just not true though.

Are you saying that the majority of people who are exposed to Ebola contract it? The stats clearly contradict this.

Where in the hell do you people get your news? He knowingly came in with ebola? He infected 18 people? Huh?

So I assume people are just damning a dead man based on wild speculation?

The stats?

The "stats" say it is one of the most virulent viral organisms I've ever heard of. Only 1 to 10 individual organisms are required to infect.

people who are exposed to Ebola
Perhaps the confusion here is in the term "exposed". If one has a conversation with an Ebola patient but no direct contact with him, is that "exposed"?
If so, your premise is correct.

If you're of the understanding that bodily contact with the infected individual carries low risk, you're simply mistaken.

The knowing part is possible, and likely. The "infected 18 people" part is completely untrue, at least at this point.

The handful of Ebola patients has completely knocked off news of the enterovirus, which is highly contagious and dangerous to children. I think that's way more of a public health concern than ebola. Not saying every precaution shouldn't be made to prevent more cases, but the average person is not going to come near contact with an infected person. Enterovirus on the other hand.....

I'm not uspet about it. But it certainly is not accurate.

Every person who has the ebola virus has been in contact with it. That is fact.

Yes, we're quibbling over the word "exposed". IMO, all the folks he came into contact with him from the time he boarded that plane to the time he was diagnosed with Ebola were exposed. The last I heard, that number was around 100, but most of these folks won't contract Ebola.

True, but not everyone who is exposed to Ebola contracts Ebola.

Correct, which is why i offered an edit to your first statement a page back.

A much better way of saying it is, "not all people who are exposed will contract it."

Silly argument I guess. Just didn't want you to paint a very broad brush.

As far as I know, we haven't had any cases of D68 here.

A 4 year old died in the town over from me a couple of weeks back and there have been 14 documented cases in NJ. It appears to be all over the country. Not much to do about it except wash your hands frequently and don't touch your face (among other things).

Is it y'all belief that he should've just gone to the middle of nowhere and died?
Like that was his only option. Whatever he did he should have been honest about his exposure and taken precautions, but he did not.

But hey, we live in a country where killing baby's in a mother's womb is considered "maybe selfish, but not evil", so, what do you expect.
