Dude - he got on an airplane when he knew he likely had ebola. The only reason he got on the airplane was because he though he had it.
No. His thoughts were likely, "I'm going to die unless I get the best treatment in the USA."
Unless you consider survival instincts to be evil, I don't see it that way.
The guy is an a-hole for doing what he did, but if I was in his position, I might have made the same choice.
Stay in Liberia, get rejected by hospitals, and die or board a plane and fly to the USA with the hopes that they could treat me.
His actions were very selfish.

Is it y'all belief that he should've just gone to the middle of nowhere and died?

so would I.. if he died in a lot of pain, got what he deserved.

Probably not the worst thing in the world. Had he survived, it would have increased the belief that we can cure the disease. Incentivizing others to try the same.
I wouldn't be surprised if he got better and his death was faked by the government. It would have been a consideration if I was president.

I'd choose the latter. It makes more sense from a societal standpoint to have the public believe he survived and we are able to treat it.

when your children die from ebola, perhaps you'll question the open borders policy, til then I guess you'll dutifully parrot the party/govt line.
at least you know your place.

there are very few evil acts that aren't born out of selfish acts. i disagree that you have to intend evil to commit evil acts

Damn the media. This years flu season is going to be fricking insane because of how badly they are blowing this out of proportion.

I agree. We've had what? 3 people with it in the US? Hardly an epidemic.

Where in the hell do you people get your news? He knowingly came in with ebola? He infected 18 people? Huh?

To those who think this man is evil, what about the people who were brought back here for treatment? Are they evil? What about those who brought them back?
They greatly increased the risk of spreading Ebola just by bringing those people here. Should've left them in Africa.

We've already had people ask about ebola because they went to school with people who were born in Dallas.
I don't think people fully appreciate how absurd this flu season will be. Everyone with vomiting and a fever is going to believe that they have ebola because they stepped foot in Texas or talked to a black guy.

IMO it was definitely wrong, but I wouldn't call it evil, unless his intent was to deliberately spread Ebola. I would call what he did wreckless and selfish. By the way, it's being reported that he applied for his VISA on July 25, but I'm still curious to know when he bought his ticket. Anyway, the whole story is sad IMO.

There is a difference between knowingly being in contact with Ebola patients, and not telling anyone about it, and exposing hundreds to the strain if you contract the virus vs. those knowingly exposed and properly isolated and transported back to the US to receive proper treatment that minimizes the risk of spreading to others.
One has a greater chance of spreading the deadly virus. The other has a greater chance of treatment and containment of the virus.
How are you not seeing this?

That implies malicious intent. He merely wanted to live and put his own survival above those around him to do so.
It was selfish, not evil.
Selfish behavior with no regard for the well being of others is absolutely evil. Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. You just found his motive.
Absolutely evil.

No, he said, "I don't give a frick if I spread it all over the place as long as I give myself a better chance of living."
That's evil.

He only knew he had been exposed to Ebola when he boarded the plane, he didn't know he had contracted Ebola. And remember, most people who are exposed to Ebola don't contract it.
