There is no national sales tax though so why is Trump getting involved?
I guess there is a point were state and local taxes can be used to your advantage that other retailers don't have access to and you grow big enough where antitrust issues arise. That's when the federal government can start asking questions.

No one specified federal, state or local you just assumed federal. Obviously Amazon is taking advantage of state and local taxes to gain advantages over other retailer that cannot get the same breaks.
The states are free to collect sales tax on internet sales, most of which do now. Why is Trump involved with state and local tax collection. The only one he should be concerned with is federal, and we don’t have a federal sales tax.

I get people having a issue, but it was not specific to Amazon and it appears to he a one time thing. So a president singling out Amazon because they used a loophole available to others and likely will not be able to use this again, just doesn't make sense. This is especially true because the president did the same types of things, trying to find breaks and loopholes, which is legal and good business.
"It makes me smart." Remember that? The difference is, we don't know the extent to which @real has avoided taxes among many other things we don't know about his finances.

Trump is dead set on fricking with a booming economy the past 3 weeks. Let the free market reign and quit killing my portfolio please!

Sounds like you agree with Trump that not paying taxes is "smart"
From a taxpayers perspective it is absolutely smart.
From a government policy perspective it's neither smart or dumb...it's just the job of policy makers to make sure taxes are equally applied.

If a state isn’t requiring the collection of sales tax on internet purchases that sounds like an issue (or non issue, maybe the state wants it that way) for that state to deal with not the federal government.

apparently they’ve been getting a cheap/free ride at the expense of taxpayers via USPS.
So do all other companies that's use USPS although Amazon gets Sunday service.
The forestry services industry lobby is why they got their last cash infusion.

He's not.
However he can raise issue from an antitrust perspective. That's in his purview.

Not even close.

amazon and google need to be extinct and frick you lazy amazon prime addicts. you need help.
There is nothing "lazy" about having your purchases shipped to you. Even if the total out of pocket cost works out nearly the same as (or even more than) going to a brick and mortar, by having things shipped I have saved my own time. I have saved wear and tear on my vehicle, as well as gas. I have reduced wear and tear on our infrastructure. All those savings, plus I am able to be more productive with my own time... I think you should sign your lazy arse up for Prime and be more productive yourself.

That's politics. If WaPo doesn't like getting butt hurt by Trump comments then stay out of the rink.

So state policy for tax collection is going to bring antitrust suits on Amazon? I don’t think these states are collecting tax on all other e-commerce except Amazon's. I think you are struggling to make an argument so that it is pro-Trump rather than objectively thinking about it.
