I would love to see a tax code where all taxes were directly tied to income brackets (no corporate taxes / income from investments is just taxed as income) and shifted from year directly based on national spending. The government spends x. Thus they need x from the taxpayers (with "we're in a recession caveats").
This would heavily incentivize Congress to limit spending because voter's income taxes would increase with every dollar spent.

You mean like a president with close ties to a certain industry segment changes regulations in order to save that dying business?

So lowering corporate taxes = victory for the American people.
However, if that corporation's CEO's newspaper criticizes the president, they should be taxed more?

I really don't hate Amazon. I really don't like Bezos because he uses WP as his mouthpiece and WP's $600 MM contract with the CIA (probably to gas-light their readers).

So consumers should be forced to pay more because you don't like Jeff Bezos? What a cuck

No. Tax everyone the same.
Amazon racks up tax breaks, yet still falls short of job vows in Stoughton
Rochester’s Amazon bid included $700M in local tax breaks
Billions in tax breaks offered to Amazon for second headquarters

quote:Well it seems like they were able to use a loophole from the tax cuts:
Amazon made $5.4B in profit last year and paid ZERO in federal income tax.
Amazon earned $5.6B in 2017, but paid no federal taxes
quote:I get people having a issue, but it was not specific to Amazon and it appears to he a one time thing. So a president singling out Amazon because they used a loophole available to others and likely will not be able to use this again, just doesn't make sense. This is especially true because the president did the same types of things, trying to find breaks and loopholes, which is legal and good business.
While the tax cuts generally took effect on Jan. 1, some companies, including Amazon, have managed to deter or postpone tax liability from prior years as part of a grandfather clause included in the law, ITEP reported.

.
Paid zero taxes. Just like Trump. Didn't that make him smart?

No. Tax everyone at the same.
So why would you focus on local and state tax law?

From the think that that GOP points to as his biggest accomplishment thus far

No one specified federal, state or local you just assumed federal.
Obviously Amazon is taking advantage of state and local taxes to gain advantages over other retailer that cannot get the same breaks.

Should Amazon get special tax breaks that aren’t offered to other retailers? Playing corporate favorites through taxes isn’t “free market” economics, it’s picking winners and losers
I agree, that goes for any internet company though not just Amazon. There is no national sales tax though so why is Trump getting involved?

Trump is dead set on fricking with a booming economy the past 3 weeks. Let the free market reign and quit killing my portfolio please!

Sounds like you agree with Trump that not paying taxes is "smart"

I pay sales tax when I buy stuff directly from Amazon

Correct. Fair criticism and good debate point IMO.
