Yes.
Pocket veto is only applicable if Congress adjourns sine die, formally ending the session. With the Senate holding pro forma sessions they are never officially adjourned.
Last successful pocket veto was Clinton in 2000 when Congress went home for Christmas with a new legislative session starting in January 2001.

All it takes is one more Dem President and we are done as a country. Absolutely done and we may as well just stop discussing politics any longer if this happens.
Each side says that shite about the other side and have been for decades. Weird how it never happens.

Such an odd interaction.

I worked in this industry for 10 years.
And I just read through the housing bill and it actually doesn’t ban SFR/institutional investors from buying homes.
They have a “renovate to rent” exemption. As long as the buyer puts 15% of purchase price into the reno that property is exempt from the ban.
Or if the houses “do not meet structural or core system of local building codes” aka foundation work which every house in Texas could be argued needs it those houses are also exempt from the ban.
LIHTC and other affordable communities that consist of single-family homes operated as a single project will likely fall under the build-to-rent or renovate-to-rent exceptions Aka section 8 or work force housing. And the bill increases the number of section 8 units or 100,000 new section 8 units SFR companies could purchase.

It's the poly board. People lie all day on here to make their point.
And my point was speculating that Trump might be hesitant to straight veto it because of public perception of the bill. Even outside of anything actually in the bill and whether or not people understand it or not, it has strong bipartisan support and Trump would be seen as the only obstacle to it being passed.

I would have to ask a larger sample size to find people who knew anything about the bill. So.... yeah, I don't buy for a second you have had lots of conversations with friends and colleagues about the bill
Maybe you just talk to a bunch of uninformed tards while I talk to the much more sophisticated slightly informed tards who haven't actually read the bill

Now ask yourself, what have the Democrats ever supported that Republicans support, that’s good for this country ? The fact that it has bipartisan support from the Democrats in congress is enough for me to say, it should not be passed.

I wasn't expecting a confession. I was saying if I am wrong I apologize. I also said, I don't think I am wrong. Not odd at all. Well, odd because nobody every apologizes on the poliboard.

It's odd because I laid out what I clearly stated was an anecdote and you come in with accusations of lying to support some narrative I guess? I really want people on this message board to think people like the housing bill (that I said he should veto, BTW) for..... Reasons?

Where do you get the impression that I like the bill? "Hey, there are a number of people who like this" is an observation, not my personal opinion.

Do whatever you got to do to pass the save act!!!
Posted on 7/10/26 at 2:47 pm to VolSquatch
And I stick by your anecdote is bullshite because almost nobody knows anything about the bill and you brought up friends and colleagues discussing it even though they aren't political. So I continue to say your story is bullshite. I don't have to propose a motive for your lie. Just calling out what is clearly a lie. Apolitical people aren't going to be upset and discussing the housing bill that the majority of the people in this country couldn't name a single portion of the bill. You say he will take heat for it. He takes heat no matter what he does. I retract my apology because I don't think I am wrong. Your initial statement was bullshite. You wanted to show that people are going to be angry because you've heard apolitical friends who are spitting mad about it.

Doesn’t matter if he vetoes the bill. It passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in both chambers. He would be overridden.
Posted on 7/10/26 at 3:04 pm to udtiger
Veto the damn thing. Stop playing games.
Posted on 7/10/26 at 3:04 pm to udtiger
Getting a veto overridden would be worse than just not signing it, politically.

Trump should not allow any legislation placed on his desk to escape his veto power. The SAVE Act is the most important legislation to a majority of Americans. If election integrity legislation is not passed we're going to be seeing the same shite as the 2020 GE times 10.

How about doing away with some of the unnecessary programs and spending before making new laws that won’t fix the problems.

He absolutely needs to Veto the bill. Allowing it to pass by doing nothing means he is essentially approving the bill.
