Starting today DG is dedicating their first hour of business every day to people over 60 to make shopping easier for them without having to fight the kooks out there trying to horde up everything.

So bring your walkers, your Hurrycane sticks, your air bottles, etc. and shop til you drop. Hope to see you there.

quote:

Starting Tuesday, the Goodlettsville, Tennessee-based discount chain announced it is dedicating the first hour in its more than 16,000 stores to help senior shoppers "avoid busier and more crowded shopping periods."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says people over the age of 60 are most vulnerable to COVID-19, or coronavirus. So bring you walkers,

In a news release Monday, Dollar General said it is encouraging other shoppers to plan their trips "around this window of time to allow the most susceptible customers in our communities the ability to shop during the first hour that stores are open."

Very smart and compassionate.
They ought to extend the idea to women who are pregnant as well.

Ideas like this is why there are more dollar general stores than cell phone towers. It’s amazing how out of the box thinking can prevent you from having to say “but Amazon and Walmart” on the quarterly conference call. Looking at you Freds.

I am really a dollar general fan. Their store brand canned diced tomatoes are the best that you can buy. They are fantastic. And they keep the Blue Runner Beans in stock.

Shopping hours should be divided into multiple groups. Over 60 early hours, non workers 11-4, 4-5 restock, working people 5-closing.

I have never seen an explosion of a retail business even close to what they have done in the last 20 years.

We all laughed at DG for putting stores in random arse rural places where nobody lives.

I’m appreciating the existence of those stores right now
