If you were good at your job, you will find another rather quickly.

That's a pretty damn good attitude. You'll do just fine out there. Best of luck, mate.

I think my biggest thing is, if all of this government fraud and waste had been curtailed many years ago (or never allowed to happen in the first place) we wouldn't be in this situation.

Sorry, but you are the new definition of fraud and waste.

I’m so amazed at how honest the far left wackos are about not wanting to cut spending.

Someone posted similar a few days ago and got downvoted to oblivion.

To think there won't be a short term pothole when a large amount of federal government spending and government employment is terminated is silly.

Needs to be done, but being completely painless is unlikely.

the country needs to listen to Dave Ramsey occasionally.

building wealth and stopping the bleeding when you're already in a hole means you're going to have to trade the audi for an accord and learn what life is like without streaming and door dash for a little while.

not making light of people that are going to be negatively affected who weren't mooches.

Elon knows good/productive people will make a way for themselves. Here's hoping you get back to par asap.

Back in 2009 I was working on a state project. About halfway through the project John Kennedy (Treasurer at the time) decided to look at state funding. The project scope was cut significantly, and I was let go. The economy was in bad shape. I was without a job for 3 months. I was able to work some part time work so I didn't have to go on unemployment.

The experience made me look at ways to make myself more valuable. I have since doubled my salary. If I were to lose my job again, I have made enough connections I could be back working within a couple of weeks.

I do feel bad for these people, but we are not entitled to a job. Life is sometimes hard and how you adapt is what makes a person better or worse.

One of the least efficient things I saw was the bureaucracy called "clearance." Basically anything that is written by either the science team or comms team has to go through multiple levels of review before it can be posted publicly. Imagine peer review but from all within the agency. Sometimes checking the science, sometimes checking the policy implications.

This is not a bad thing IMO. You want to make sure what you're putting out is correct.

Sorry to hear you lost your job, but I hope that with your experience that you can find a better, higher paying job somewhere else.

Can you nuke all of the tranny pages permanently before you lose all access?

but let's not be blind to the suffering already caused by government spending.

We need to stop using terms like government spending. It's theft that put us here. There are legitimate uses for our tax dollars. Its unfortunate that average people like this guy are out of a job while people in Congress are worth millions.

Everyone in Congress needs to be investigated. Everyone. Sadly nothing will happen.

From one contractor to another - you got a 12 year gig? Thats longer than most and as a contractor you know you can be let go at any time.

FYI, this is one of the first things AI will replace. A lot of coding jobs will go away in the next 5-10 years.

Sorry to hear.

I work for a private gov consulting firm and I have witnessed the incredible waste in government firsthand. It's in my company's best interest that the government spends more money but I can't help but be enraged that my taxes are going towards some of this stuff.

It is unfortunate for those who are not causing the waste but will be collateral damage in reversing it. Doubly unfortunate with the tech industry in a slump. I wish you luck in your job search.

The best time to have done it is 10 years ago but the second best time is now.

The bad thing about cutting waste means that some of the good guys get swept up in it. It's unfortunate and I'm sorry to hear it. But like I told someone else I know, a hard working Fed guy who ended up getting axed, refocus and if you want to stay in government, re-apply to the new version of it. I know it's a lot easier said then done, but when 80% of X got canned, the cream rose to the top.

We still need hard workers in government. I hope you attempt to stay in it because it sounds like you're an asset.
