re: DOGE savings claims could come back to bite them in the arse

You should probably read what DOGE puts out vs what people claim DOGE is saying. They are not the same thing.
From the DOGE website (which I referred to and linked):
quote:
DOGE's total estimated savings are $55 billion, which is a combination of fraud detection/deletion, contract/lease cancellations, contract/lease renegotiations, asset sales, grant cancellations, workforce reductions, programmatic changes, and regulatory savings.
We are working to upload all of this data in a digestible and fully transparent manner with clear assumptions, consistent with applicable rules and regulations. To get started, listed below are a subset of contract and lease cancellations; for the former, the contracts listed are those that have been posted publicly on www.fpds.gov.
It then lists several examples and cites savings of $9,999,999 each for two of them. When you click through, you see that number in the “total value of the contract”.
Now, I don’t know for a fact that this entire amount was slated to be spent and they have indeed “saved” it, but if that’s just a “not exceed” number and history with similar contracts shows the actual spend to be a fraction of that, you’ve given the left their ammo.
Yeah, it could be crappy reporting or management of the contract value, and actual savings of even an expected 1 million is good. If you are using this to claim savings of $10 million, though, you’ve enabled the left to cast this all as a bunch of bulllshit.
Again, convincing me of the savings is not the challenge. It’s convincing the low-curiosity voter.

Oh yes they're very different. One uses inaccurate while musk is specific that he was incorrect. I shoulda used the right word to appease bbonds25 instead of a synonym

No dummy. He said nobody is always going to be correct. You insinuate that he has already made inaccurate statements. He did not say that. It’s simple reading comprehension. You’re perverting it either because you want to mislead or because you’re a moron. Either way it isn’t a good look.

Oh well, I wouldn't worry too much what the board here says. The average IQ of this board is probably around 95 or so.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure Elon will find something substantial and not just be left to post conservative memes and platitudes on Xitter. I really hope so.
I have to agree, it would suck if this turned out to be like what Bush's weapon inspectors found in Iraq. Nothing of any substance.
It should be a real concern but low IQs will always feel good about "muh stupid libs" or "muh stupid rinos" when you're not buying into our parade.

Apparently he needs to learn the difference in present perfect and future simple.

He pretty clearly stated that ‘they are only human’ and mistakes would be found and fixed. Plus at the rate they are going, they are flying through a ton of data very fast. I’m sure there are tons of errors.
At the end of the day Elon will have to show his work and provide proof of all the things he’s claiming. Anyone who blindly believes him is a dumbass at this point.

The website of Culturepoint, LLC seems to be private, which seems odd, if this is the same company that's on the agreement. And according to their LinkedIn, they only have 8-10 employees, again, if it's the same company. So a consulting company for DEI training, has a private website with 8-10 employees received a $1 million contract?

It doesn't. There arent many posters on here who really care if he cleans up the government or not. They mostly just care about sticking it to the libs.
Just as all you care about is keeping the government bloated so your heroes and their ilk can continue to cash in at the expense of the enemy's tax dollars.

Pretty much my points, restated.

He has already made several misstatements about savings, fraud etc. it's why the question was brought up. Stay ignorant though, I hear it's comforting.

Could be that they freelance or otherwise sub out a lot.
The better question for me, though, is what are the owners/leaders pulling down?
I’d be fine with a law that says any entity receiving government contracts AT LEAST has to publish the top 5 compensation figures (a la SEC requires for public corp’s), and I can make the case for capping them.
ETA: It’s tracking down the webs of these contracts and people where many of the miners poring through USASpending are striking gold.

I actually agree that Elon is misrepresenting stuff from DOGE on the daily
It's essentially what legacy media have always done, just saturate the airwaves with contorted versions of things and get their fellow media entities to reinforce them by doing likewise.
Right now legacy media is at an absolute low point, and the flood the zone approach of the administration/new media may limit the chance that this backfires in the way that it would have in prior eras.

If you go onto the “Wall of Receipts”, you can see the items being used to tally up the $55 billion in savings (thus far). Wall of Receipts
When you dig into some of them, though, the values seem to come from what looks like a “not to exceed” contract value. It is unclear how many (if any) ever come close to these amounts, and a couple that I have looked up seem to show actual awards that are a small fraction of that.
I worked for a major telecom company with government contracts.(GSA, Dept of Agriculture, etc.) I could tell you some stories.
I don't know how many times I heard, "Don't worry about it, if we don't spend the money we won't get our scheduled increase for the upcoming budget."

Oh my. This coming from you is just so rich. Bless your heart.

List them. This does not change your ignorance to very basic reading comprehension concepts. I guess it wasn’t an attempt to mislead, it is just that you’re a complete moron.

Therein lies an inherent factor when wanting government to be efficient, there's no incentive to be.

It never ceases to amaze me how people are unable to consider how others will think. They will just dismiss it as “They are stupid.”
Guess what? A stupid person’s vote counts exactly the same as yours.
It never ceases to amaze me how much people choose to worry and make themselves miserable over things they can't control.
Nobody on this board has any control over what's happening or what will happen, and we only have a tiny little fraction of a percentage of control as a whole.
This thread reeks of someone with too much time to sit and worry. Good things are happening right now, just enjoy the ride. You will never be able to control how others interpret or receive these good things, you just have to hope for the best. Eyes are opening right now and that's all you can hope for

How many federal contracts eventually exceed the “not to exceed” contract value?
I would venture to say its a lot more than 0%
Nope. None. They simply modify the contract and raise the NTE.
