First of all, communist countries lie about the strength of their military. They like to use propaganda to overstate their strength. Whereas, the US military industrial likes to use the same propaganda to get more funds from our government out of fear. US jets are decades ahead of Chinese jets in tech and even if the CCP has long range fighter jet like the f35, I can guarantee you is not as effective. As for their Navy, they may indeed have more ships now, but most are outdated and inferior to US ships, they simply don't have the budget to keep up. Furthermore their economy is shrinking and they refuse to release accurate data about it, but we know thousands of companies have moved out of China with many more in the process of leaving. The world is pissed at the CCP and simply not investing like they were and they will be soon be forced to scale it back because of their lack of income.Their space program has had setback after setback. Not to mention recent natural disasters costing them insane amounts of money and threatening to break their entire economy. Bottom line is their economy is collapsing and they are going broke fast. If those dams break, they will lose entire cities, huge cities and much of their manufacturing.
I think Chrome is correct. And the US military industrial is attempting to use CCP lies as leverage to scare Americans into supporting even more military spending. If you research strongest militaries in the world from international sources, you will find the US number one on every single site you search. The truth is that since both countries have nuclear weapons, there will be no all out military war because of mutually assured destruction. So even if the reports are true, and I highly doubt it, then it jst means that the CCP is wasting money on weapons they will never use, just like us.

More boats, but I doubt they have more of an offensive capability.

A significant portion of our military consists of social programs.

The problem with the military we don't try to win wars anymore. We spend way more than the rest of the world combined but what have we actually accomplished with all that money
