Does calling your representatives or senators really do anything?

I hear lots of pundits say “call your senators” about the new red flag laws. I’ll have to admit, I’ve actually done that but you can never even talk to an underling. The left knows this shite doesn’t work, and that’s why they show up to your front door. I’m just extremely frustrated that our “public servants” are so inaccessible through polite avenues.

Nah. I always get voicemail and by the time some clerk checks it, the rep or senator has already voted. It’s fun to leave them voicemails though. I called Tom Rice after he voted to impeach Trump and let him know that he just killed his political career, and I was right. He gone.

Need to use the left's tactics.

A few thousand people outside their office will get their attention.

Mike Johnson listens.

He might be one of a smalhandfull.

From listening to senate hearings, it sounds like Marsha Blackburn does what her people want as well

I sent emails to Tom Cotton after the election and got the same lip service about opening committees to look into it blah blah blah, I told him that's always been Lindsay's excuse and I expect better and to enjoy his new and last term as senator because we're done with him.

They’re never at their state office though, they’re always hiding up in DC.

I find it funny when posters here post what their rep responds with. It's always canned

"Hey Jack! Thanks so much for reaching out! We are doing everything in our power to preserve (insert any current grievance here)"

They don't GAF. Some Crenshaw goon sent me a text the other day, I said to kindly FO and still got another text

Exactly. The left doesn’t even waste time calling or emailing politicians.

Agreed. Unfortunately, a shitty economy and people losing their jobs is the only thing that would mobilize middle class conservatives.

Before we made "public service" a never-ending job for these people, they had to work in the communities they represented and therefore heard the complaints and praise first hand. Now they go to DC and tell what you should think.

Not for long if we don't take control back.

They really do track what constituent calls say about given issues. They don’t necessarily always follow it, but it can inform strategy on what issues to focus on.

The ability to actually change the mind of an elected official based on constituent calls goes up exponentially as you move lower down the food chain from Congress to state legislature to local councils. Those folks don’t get a ton of calls, so when they do, they tend to take notice. The insider government uniparty is extremely organized at making constituent calls. If those are the only people these reps hear from, they will be far more likely to support those opinions.
