If by “playhouse” you mean America, then yes.

I fear what you goose-steppers plan to do.

I don’t think it’s just temptation that you have to deal with. I think it’s legitimate threats in various capacities to you and those you love. I’m not talking about violence but more like blackmail, extortion, pressure, etc.

Sadly (for our country), most truly ethical people, perhaps wisely, want nothing to do with politics.

Politics largely seems to attract the sleaziest and most egotistical, self-aggrandizing that society has to offer.

There’s a handful of what appear to be genuine stand-up folks. But that’s the exception, not the rule.

If the 20th century and hundreds of millions dead from socialism doesn’t convince you it’s evil nothing will.

I went to a College Republicans meeting while I was majoring in Poli Sci at LSU in the 90s. It was fine. Met some nice guys. Definitely aligned with them politically.

On my way home, I thought about what that path would entail. And I heard my mind say clear as a bell, “I don’t want to lose my soul.” I never went back.

I would like to think so, but I can't imagine the pressure these people are under and the mountains of blackmail going on.

That said, every year I get an invite to give a bid for pest control to HUD in Arcadia, Fl. I never fill it out and send it in. Not taxpayers' responsibility to fund my company. So, I like to think I'm already showing some kind of backbone when it comes to wanting to crush the size and scope of government.

Presidents are kings. There is no congress apparently.

Got it.

This. I knew a really genuinely good dude that ran for and got elected to SC house. Knew him and his family for years before he ran. He lasted two, maybe three terms and gave it up. Couldn't get anything done hardly and wasn't willing to be dirty or play with dirtbags. It stunk, he was the kind of man you need in that position.
As a politician, try to get me to do something dirty and I’m publicly ruining you.

It's possible, but you wouldn't seek re-election if you did.

Yes. As long as, the occasional Honeypot slay is ok. Not married, so unless slaying is a problem then I'm good. I may be outgoing, and girls think I'm a "player" I'm not a sexual harasser, dont aggressively pursue, so can't get accused of that or be on the payout fund list.

Oh and I'm operational process minded, so to me getting stuff fixed and done is more enticing than money and/or poon.

I worked very close with the legislature in Alabama. 25 years. I knew a lot of the ins and outs of Alabama politics. I saw a lot of good people, men and women, elected and come to Montgomery with fresh ideas and the courage to be the change they were elected to be. I rarely saw a good and decent person leave Montgomery. Didn’t matter what letter was after their name. Didn’t matter their gender, religion or race. They were all filthy when they went home. When a legislator served their first term, they were generally clean. Never, never, never trust anyone elected to more than 2 terms, and rarely trust the person running for their first re-election. I almost always vote against the incumbent in primaries for this reason. Term limits would be nice, but only a revolution could make that happen now. Our founding fathers failed us on this point.

I’ve fantasized about winning office and secretly recording everyone in my office while pretending to go along with it all then resigning and releasing it all.
