Yes, because it's not selective. It doesn't give DC the power to do their little social engineering projects,

It doesn't but believe me, it does not prelude DC from social engineering by some other means.

The biggest reason we have the problems we do is that half of the voters in this country get to vote on how the government spends the other half's money.

To take advantage of the USMCA between the U.S. and Mexico.

How is that different from Japan or the US auto companies manufacturing in Mexico?

Same principle applies. Our elected officials buy votes with taxes they collect from the minority.

One big reason, it’s China you nitwit. They’re not going this for the consumer they’re doing it to hurt us. Thus why you protect those who aren’t enemies and prevent the enemy from doing so.

For example when Trump put tariffs on steel and aluminum the Chinese responded with currency manipulation which lowered the the price of Chinese imports. (Yuan money printing made the dollar stronger.)

Actually, China added additional tariffs. The retaliatory tariff on US cotton was 25%. As I recall, most of the Chinese tariffs were directed at the American farmer (who protested at the time).

Again, tariffs are not fair. They are not free. The inefficiencies of tariffs hurt both countries.
Why ignore hundreds of years of obvious flaws with import tariffs?
Honestly. This is settled fact by now.

The Chinese are building cars in Mexico and selling them all over South America. Chile is one of the biggest buyers of Chinese EV cars.

Rand is wrong on this one. That's why so many other nations around the world have implemented bans on it.

If you think the US should prohibit China from selling cars here, you have to prohibit TikTok on the same principle or you're not consistent.

What Chinese-made car is selling in the US market? Did Trump just talk about parts?

How many Chinese automobiles were sold in the US last year?
I'm pretty sure the answer is 0.

If you are worried that Mexicans are buying Chinese cars instead of american, then I suggest that you hold up a mirror to the US automotive industry and ask hard questions.

About as "fair" as when and what US Lawmakers did to American Manufacturing forever by opening up ChiComm dirt-cheap slave-trade products to US markets c. 1990s.

Mexican legislators are led & fed by the nose-ring by Globalist proxies, just like their US counterparts. (Capitalism is being gutted.)

IDK. I'd have to look into it.

Let's step back for a second.

What is happening here is Trump is the first politician in a long time (probably in most people's lives including mine) that we have heard using tariffs as a tool to execute trade agreements. No fine points are being argued by Trump other than he will "hit them with a 100% tariff" which is just bloviating. Trump is just setting the negotiating framework. One thing about Trump that he is consistent about is making good deals. He is always talking about deals. This is just part of it.

China imports about 22% of all of our outgoing exports.

Are you a globalist or anarchist? Maybe an amalgamation of both?

Do you believe the Rosenbergs should have been executed for allegedly giving nuclear secrets to the Soviets?

Do you believe US corporations such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, etc. should be considered modern day Rosenbergs for providing the CCP with advanced industrial and manufacturing technologies?

What about the D.C. Uniparty and universities who allowed this technology transfer to China over the past 35 years.

Free trade baw.
