I could get behind a low artificial interest rate
Student loans have always been this. Given the default rates, a market risk based rate would be higher than credit cards.

Yes, they are. Why are school loans special? Maybe we should bail out the poor saps who invested in a bad stock and they're struggling because of it. Cancel all debt, everywhere, because MMT.

I’m not sure I can get on board with this.
However if they do this and I wouldn’t be surprised,
will college now all of a sudden cost much less? What’s exactly happening here?
Someone gonna have to explain it real slow for me,
Ya know I didn’t get no real college learning, and I ain’t got no dept so many I don’t understand.

Wrong. They’re government loans. The government can’t owe money to itself.

will be at least $10K.

And I think he will go with $25K....he is getting pressure from Elizabeth and Bernie.

$50K would be a HUGE mistake.
when would this go into effect?

No, this would increase the cost of college just like the cost increased when the government started backing student loans. Now colleges will just assume the government will eventually forgive college loans, so the minimum cost of undergrads will start hovering around the price of about $50k.

There is no way to do this that would not have a hugely negative effect on all American citizens. The inflation alone will be awful.

You don’t get inflation from the government canceling an IOU to itself. Now, if the government cancelled student debt and then sent all borrowers a check for $50,000, then you’d have inflation.

Nah, there will be all kinds of strings attached, there will be income limits, etc. Hell, at this point, they may as well limit it to only people of color, the way Democrats are going.

I just don’t think Conservatives any fight in them.

We rolled over for covid and the mask mandates.

The only people who are actually willing to get into the street are the Bolsheviks.

I’m in Charlottesville right now, I drove past a memorial for the overweight woman who died in the counter protest back in the summer of 17.

There was a sign up that said “still fighting.”

And that’s true — they are fighting.

We’re not.

You want to fight against middle class people having an extra $300 in their bank account every month? Weird hill to die on.
