In my professional opinion Obama's OO looked mismatched and sloppy.
The curtains made the room appear small and clashed with the floor and (that awful) wallpaper. The velvet sofas and the (tile?) coffee table are too modern for the rest of the furnishings. The blue lamps are out of place. It feels too unorganized. Choppy.
Trump's OO is more symmetrical and has a better flow. Your eyes aren't pulled in several different directions by mismatched items.

I agree.
But I still do like the wheat colored rug. I could do without the quotes on it though. Just one more thing that's distracting.

Nixon overdid it just as Trump did but it's all in one place in the Oval on one side by the desk and that's key to avoid it looking too cluttered and busy.
Trump has them spread all over the Oval and it just looks disorderly and frantic.

I like the 2 leather chairs 0bama had. That's about the only nice thing I can say about his presidency
