Do you buy the argument that there are more trans kids now because of acceptance?

According to Gallup, the % of kids (generation z and such) who identify as trans has skyrocketed. Way way higher than previous generations

One thesis: media, entertainment, and other complexes have made being trans “attractive” and “cool”, and trans is becoming a counter culture movement

Competing thesis: there has also been the same % of trans people, but in previous decades there was stigma so people lied on surveys

What’s your opinion?

It’s the first one and it’s not debatable

I have no doubt more kids think they are trans now because the way the left and the media push it as some beautiful thing. We are completely failing our youth by pushing this sickness on them

No, if every whimsical idea of a child is reinforced the origins of inception get lost to the need to continue to fulfill a seeming fate

Nothing has changed. The same people who supported and those that oppose the mental illness are the same. It's just become politicized.

Absolutely the first one. People raising theybies has lead to more of this BS than people actually making that decision.

I feel like every couple of months there’s some article about how parents tried to raise their kids to be gender neutral but are shocked when their daughters gravitate towards dolls and their sons gravitate towards sports and rough and tumble antics.

The parents push it at any early age so they can stand out and look like the cutting edge parents who are special.

My cousins are saying they are transgender. I can tell you for a fact that their liberal mom has convinced them on this and pushed them all the way.

I think it’s the SIGNIFICANTLY wider net LGBTQ casts today versus just 2 years ago.

Fluidity, for example, or “questioning” weren’t really a thing then. Now those people are being counted.

That said, I think there are probably less closeted gays today than in 17 due to mainstreaming of gay lifestyles.

Its the fad. They want to fit in like all young generations time after time have gone through. They're bullied into it(experience) and harrassed if they dont follow the others off the cliff. The ones that don't follow are going to be the new black sheep group people will grow to admire. The new punks.

I to this day still don’t know what “trans” means. I have yet to receive a logical explanation on what it means to be trans.

Attention-seeking.

But, alas, the more liberals that decide not to breed the way nature made us to breed, the better. Liberalism is a self-deleting genetic error.

I have a friend who is an MSW and she specializes in counseling adolescents.

We discussed this issue.

I told her that I thought it was bc kids were looking for a way to fit in some kind of group if they were weird or “uncool.” She partially agreed. She also thought that many of them were subjected to either sexual abuse or loose sexual boundaries of some kind. Regardless- I don’t think acceptance of a 13 yr old boy who thinks he’s a girl makes sense whatsoever.

I also think that normal stuff like tomboy behavior is
misinterpreted by woke idiot millennial parents who want to look cool and there to be something “special” about their kid.

This issue is sadly a mental health issue; and so much of our society fricks with the mental health of children. It is counterintuitive to me to tell a child who is struggling with his / her gender issues to hate their body or the way they were born. I’m not sure how it’s mentally healthy to feed into what is a delusion.

ETA - The argument that there are more trans kids bc of “acceptance” is bullshite. It’s a horrific, dangerous, unhealthy societal trend. Like when they used to bind the feet of geisha girls. There’s no excuse to cause a child to hate their own body.
