for those who might not know, our debt by itself is actually a very good thing. other countries essentially buy it, they're investing in us, and that makes the dollar the global standard. but the instant we default on one of those loans, we are fricked beyond belief. we dont have some birthright to the leaderboard on this, the global economy could just as easily use the euro or yuan as the standard.

depression and the large percentage of people who depend on government to live will kill each other, starve, or get killed by trying to steal from those who know how to fend for themselves. It would be a major population purge for sure.
This is how the debt is paid back. Not in money.

You don't think a $116 billion dollar a year price tag towards the cost of illegal immigrants is a huge contributing factor?
The problem isn't the immigrants, the problem is the entitlements. Even if no illegal immigrants took advantage of our entitlement programs, the programs would still be driving us deeper into debt at an accelerating rate. Perhaps if we reformed entitlements, immigrants wouldn't be so incentivized to come here illegally.
So no, I don't consider it a "huge" contributing factor.

That figure is actually around $50-60B, but yes...that’s far too high. That said, it’s not nearly as economically damaging compared to far more expensive efforts.

So you're telling me Obama doubled our national debt while he was in office, yet somehow this skyrocketing debt is Trump's fault?

I don't know where you get that number from but here is where I got mine from:
I'll take their word over yours

I think an EMP bomb attack will get us first.

quote:Yep. Unfortunately, it's too late to do anything about it. Voters are hooked on entitlements as a substitute for personal responsibility. And the hole is so deep that any significant debt reduction would require a HUGE tax increase on the "middle class" AND ending entitlements. Good luck electing a majority in Congress to do that.
Do you believe US debt will eventually destroy the country?

quote:Yup. In fact, one of the reasons for MORE immigrants is to have a growing population. Like all ponzi schemes our entitlements depend on new payees coming in to fund "returns" on previous "investors". With a declining population, the collapse comes quickly!
The problem isn't the immigrants, the problem is the entitlements.
It's a dirty little secret. And it's why open borders has bipartisan support.

Hate to break it to you but the debt will never be paid off. It’s too large.

GWB fricked us a little. The person who really really fricked us was Obama. He spent more then any President in History by almost 4x adjusted for inflation. Anyone who wants to lay blame for our debt crisis needs to lay it at the feet of Obama.

Each one doubled our debt in the span of 15-16 years. Both can go frick themselves.

First, I can’t even begin to understand how you believe a group that self-identifies as an organization seeking to reduce both legal and illegal immigration is an unbiased source. FAIR has been classified by some as a hate group and has close ties to white supremacist groups.
I got my numbers from the (still very conservative leaning) Heritage Foundation.
I see your biased source and refute with a better one

Another country will have to forcibly call their debt.
If people won't trade with us, we flex on them with Air Power.

Now. We will inflate our way out of it because politicians have zero accountability. It will be painful, but it won't destroy us.

Do you think there's any truth to the idea that the US would eventually depend on immigration for growth (GDP)? As in, birth rates decline substantially enough and per capita productivity can't sustain growth? I don't know the answer, but it seems plausible.

That's just illegal households cost us according to your link. There are a helluva lot more costs involved concerning illegal immigration than just household costs.

No.
Unregulated immigration and Identity politics will SLOWLY destroy this country
As more and more immigrants, that don't assimilate to American values, enter our political system and slowly tear apart it's core values.
People who have wanted to destroy this country have tried multiple ways with Terrorism and war, but have failed.
The next move (current), will be to become citizens and infiltrate the political system.
Destroy it from the inside out.
Trojan Horse / Sal Alinsky approach
