In what way?

Denying an organization the ability to open a charter solely on the basis of that org's religious beliefs.

Yup, but she "recused," so she can be excused from actually ruling horribly in two important cases in a row. C unt.

Exactly. She didn't want the heat for two horrible rulings in a row. Now she can claim innocence because she acted "ethically" and recused herself.

With the exception of abortion, has she voted with conservatives on any issue? Seriously, why did the left hate her nomination so much?

The left REALLY loves killing babies.

There have been a couple of high-profile cases that I think warrant criticism for sure, but I think she is far from a liberal Justice at this point.

Maybe... But some cases carry much more weight than others. And she's fricking up.

I don't

I want those Catholics running a government school

ETA: you literally have zero comprehension of the 1st Amendment, or the history of the Bill of Rights

Do you support public funding of public, radical Islamic schools?

So, like any good true, real conservative would, you're equating a catholic school to a radical islamic school? Nice.

I think they got it right. Separation of church and state.

If you allow a Catholic charter school funded by taxpayers, then that opens the door for taxpayer funded Muslim public schools too. Do you want your tax money funding that?

I agree. That is one of my contentions with school voucher programs - taxpayer money going to religious schools. I do support tax deductions for parents paying for private schools though.

Yeah I agree. I like the concept but it would definitely open up a can of worms for nefarious shite in the future. Best to keep these separated

There are very interesting legal and social concepts in play.

For example, in Florida, I think if you homeschool you are eligible for grants up to $10,000 for each child. So, say a group of muslims wanted to homeschool... say 100 kids...

That is $1million to these families to "homeschool"... real separation of church and state there...

They are free to exercise their religious beliefs.

They don't need state funding and oversight to do that.

Honestly I'm kind of surprised the court was divided. I don't really see how you can have a publicly funded religious school. I don't see how the hell that gets around the Constitution. I feel like it should have been unanimous.

The Supreme Court split 4-4 on whether to approve the nation’s first publicly funded religious charter school on Thursday

Who voted for this? Why would any conservative be in favor of publicly funded religious schools? What am I missing?

Their ability to exercise their religious beliefs is being limited by the government. Other org's are not prohibited from running a school paid for by government funds. But this one is prohibited from doing so - solely because they would be exercising their religious beliefs in running the school, which is expressly prohibited in the Constitution.
