re: Didn't the courts rule it illegal for Trump to block followers on twitter?

I think the ruling basically said that Trump was using the platform to deliver presidential messages, hence it was effectively official use.
The problem with that logic is Trump had a personal account and POTUS account and he had the personal account long before becoming president. The court did not allow him to block followers on his personal account while everyone else could.

He has no rights with twitter, private company, can do what they want, don’t like it build your own twitter, build your own servers, yada yada yada
And, we now know FOR SURE that they'll just conspire to make sure that "your own twitter" will be taken down.

@POTUS is the official use
@realDonaldTrump is just like anyone else’s account

either Twitter is "the public forum" or it's not
Twitter definitely wants it both ways. Tucker had a great example last night. Ugandan government officials banned Twitter leading up to an election there and Twitter blasted the use of censorship in that country...lol.

Well, the first ruling was solely politically motivated.
If Trump brought a suit; they’d have no problem making a second ruling that was also politically motivated.
Trump made the mistake of insisting his personal Twitter account was official Presidential communication.
The President cannot block followers for official communication. Would you like if the new administration spoke only to Democrats and cut you out of anything... announcing any policies, etc.?
That's why he could not block people from following him, or replying to what he said.

realDonaldTrump to deliver official messages.

Biden won't block right wing trolls, Twitter will do it for him citing blah, blah, blah, something in their rules.

yeah the ruling is just a mess. it was politically-motivated and, as always, that creates bad precedent
then to unwind that bad precedent, courts have to try to baffle people with bullshite and irrationality to avoid the negative externalities
the stupidest part of that ruling is that people weren't actually even blocked from seeing his comments. they were blocked from shitposting in comments

this didn't happen, though
anyone could still see his tweets by logging off or creating a new account

does an elected official have to answer the phone every time someone wants to discuss something he said?

Twitter blocked both accounts.
How are they allowed to block the public from viewing official messages?

therein lies the rub
the court ruled that private spheres can be used for government purposes and the 1A applies, so with that logic, the regulations apply to Twitter itself and not just the individual users
Twitter is engaging in viewpoint discrimination over a forum that was private until it became an avenue for government business

Can they block people from viewing? I think they can just block you from responding.
Anyone can view.
Anyone can view.

So if Twitter doesn't want black people using their platform, they can ban black people?

you can't see in your blocked account but can see when logged off or on another account
nobody can see Trump's tweets today, though
