And then there was FDR. Putting people in camps...

I will note that both Roger and I abhor moralists from both Right and Left while you support and defend Leftist finger- wagging Moral Nannies.

To be fair the Westboro people were hated by the right-wing more than the left for their blatant picketing of military funerals.

I don't know if it's fair to say one side hated them more than the other. They "hated" any group they thought they could provoke, get an emotional reaction out of that could lead them to suing someone. That included gay people, military, etc. I don't think you can really associate them with either side. They were a cult (although the mindset of people from both political sides are cult like, I am referring to them as a cult because they had one leader driving them to do crazy shite) doing whatever their leader told them to do.

We are probably 15 years or so from having a Bernie Sanders or Ocasio-Cortez type in the White House with control of the house and congress.

We'll be paying 70% top tax rates and have a slow growth, 10-12% unemployment, European style economy.

No they weren't. Not fiscally.

When Democrats shifted left on social issues the Klan died, and that's no coincidence.

One reason to favor the RW moralists is the constancy of their message. I'm a believer in the salvation offered through Christianity and if approached by someone offering me the promise of Eternal life through Jesus, I simply say I already have it. It makes it tough for them to counter that. I am knowledgeable enough to present my faith in a positive light.

The LW moralists seemingly have an ever-evolving list of complaints/demands/narratives that NO HUMAN can escape. How would a Caucasian argue the 'white privilege' plank of their platform?

They are destroying this country.

It continues to amaze me how some people vote for the government to confiscate more of their wealth and freedom and decide how much they get back.

Yes they were

Why did the Democratic and Republican parties switch platforms?

quote:

So, sometime between the 1860s and 1936, the (Democratic) party of small government became the party of big government, and the (Republican) party of big government became rhetorically committed to curbing federal power. How did this switch happen?
Eric Rauchway, professor of American history at the University of California, Davis, pins the transition to the turn of the 20th century, when a highly influential Democrat named William Jennings Bryan blurred party lines by emphasizing the government's role in ensuring social justice through expansions of federal power — traditionally, a Republican stance.

You sure? I thought they once were registered as a tax-exempt group (a religious organization) but later lost it?

I know they never considered themselves a separate religion or anything, but didn't they justify some of their acts through the bible?

And while they were not their first priority to hate on, they were not very fond of Catholics.

Unemployment will be 25% plus in that scenario.

THe KKK were white Southern Democrats. The single MOST important coalition in the national Democratic Party. They weren’t “ Conservative “ . You could argue they were “ regionalist “ or “ traditionalist”. They actively targeted and murdered Republicans too.

And they were never moralists in the sense of this discussion although they cloaked their bullshite in Christianity .They were deeply immoral and seen as such by virtually every non-Democrat. They were racist white terrorists and they were exclusively Democrats. Democrats can’t project this historical legacy onto Conservatives post-facto just because it them makes uncomfortable or because some douche bag professor at UC-Davis wants to get his Cultural Marxism on.

The puritanical hypocrites on the left are ponderous, man, fricking ponderous. Everything they accuse you of doing is the shite they're guilty of. It's their own self-hatred projected outward onto others. I'll take a couple of Bible thumpers over the virtue-signalling cry babies every day and twice on Sundays.

Yep. Conservatives.

They were 100% social conservatives. They opposed anything that wasn't white, heterosexual, and Christian

Of course. Northern Republicans were the social progressives of the time. They opposed Jim Crow.

I'm no conservative, but that's a hilarious definition of said conservatives.
