Nothing in that statement is believable unless we assume gross incompetence instead

As someone already pointed out. If this statement were true then the fact it took them till now to put it out is PR malfeasance

Moreover you have to be fricking tone-deaf beyond all recognition to be cutting off a business relationship with the NRA and not understand that it's going to be interpret it a certain way

You get out in front of that. A freshman public relations major could tell you that

I think I have sniffed out what is going on here and it isn’t pretty.

Yeti doesn’t want to make products that are labeled in house with the NRA brand like they do for organizations like the NRA and DU

Example:

They are wanting out of that business and referring the NRA to third parties for the branding of their products.

That is correctly defined as seeking distance.

According to their statement, they never "cut off a business relationship" with the NRA.

They cancelled a discount program and offered a different one.

It seems like they were completely blind sided by the NRA's reaction to something they thought had been communicated clearly.

The NRA melted hard. They shouldve used a Yeti cooler.

It wasn't pre-cooled so it melted

Even if they're switching multiple organizations over to 3rd party branding?

Which simply means their PR department is incompetent last 3 days

That reality plus a conspicuous lack of detail tends to indicate it's unlikely their statement isn't lacking in candor

Nope.

It sounds like they didn’t want to make special edition, NRA branded products and referred the NRA to third parties for customization.

Like I said above, that is distancing and justifies the people that are twisted up.

If they were lying, you would think that Marion Hammer would release the initial communication from Yeti that says that, wouldn't you?

And like I said above, if they referred multiple, unrelated, organizations to use 3rd party branding, that would nuke your entire premise.

Which ones?

They didn’t name any. That’s the crux of the matter. Not naming other organizations in this statement is another f up.

Actually, judging by this thread it seems the idiots are buying Yeti's bullshite excuse.

And for what it's worth, I'm a Coleman man, as my father was before me.

They've already provided more info than the letter that started all this.

Why does Yeti have have to "prove" that something didn't happen? Shouldn't Marion Hammer "prove" that it did?

The original letter for reference:

quote:

DATE: April 20, 2018
TO: USF & NRA Member and Friends
FROM: Marion P. Hammer
USF Executive Director
NRA Past President

For years YETI Coolers have been a hot item for sportsmen at the Friends of NRA Foundation Banquet and Auction events around the country.

These Foundation events raise money to support youth programs and educational programs nationwide. The youth of America who benefit from these programs are the future hunters, hikers, fishermen/women, bikers, campers, wildlife photographers, mountain climbers, sportsmen/women and conservationists who will protect our natural resources and recreational lands.

Suddenly, without prior notice, YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation. That certainly isn't sportsmanlike. In fact, YETI should be ashamed. They have declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities. These activities enable them to appreciate America and enjoy our natural resources with wholesome and healthy
outdoor recreational and educational programs.

The NRA Foundation is 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization.

In this day and age, information is power. We thought you needed this information.

Yes.

I would expect most large private equity firms to be New York based.

nothing against the NRA, it's dumb to let people know like this, like if you try to leave we'll hurt you.

An important point to remember is that the NRA didn’t send out a message to all its members to start blastin Yeti. The membership effectively did this on their own.

Marion Hammer sent out a message to some people, but not all the members. And she didn’t tell them to go after Yeti.
