I used to think my parents rules were petty, too. Until I had kids, and grew up a lot

A gene which may make people more intelligent has been found by scientists

To confirm the finding, the team studied the NPTN gene more closely in mouse and human brain cells in the lab and found it had a different activity in the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

So I guess you cant beat that dead horse anymore. There is now a gene for everything, except the ghey. Its becoming more and more clear that its a choice

People pretend to be straight in every country every single second of every single day. Why is this even being discussed?

Does anyone here NOT know a guy/girl who dated or slept with members of the opposite sex then turned out to be gay?

Let me get this straight. Since the advent of the human genome project, we have been searching for genetic markers for intelligence. Now, after all this time, we have found a marker that might be indirectly related to intelligence, and you think you've found a gotcha?

It's almost as if some of you never actually read scientific literature...

It's pretty funny this debate between you and League is picking up right where it left off at a brisk pace after two months of inactivity.

Odd, considering its scientific literature that says they are done looking for the gay gene, and have moved on to the possibility of epigenetics
quote:

A team of international researchers has completed a study that suggests we will probably never find a ‘gay gene.' Sexual orientation is not about genetics, say the researchers, it's about epigenetics. This is the process where DNA expression is influenced by any number of external factors in the environment.

Obviously no one thought the same of an intelligence gene, since they seem to have been continuing to look for it and have now found it

But your attempts at puffing up your cause by using the intelligence gene comparison has proven to be a fatal error

Obviously.

The only other explanation is that it is a choice...and it CAN'T be that!

So, I ask again: if it turns out to be epigenetic as opposed to genetic, how does that in any way support your position that being gay is a choice?

Please excuse my uneducated question...

If there is a genetic source for homosexuality, would one expect that it would be a trait that was passed on to offspring? If so, it seems that it would have a very difficult time surviving as a trait, considering it's inherent limitations regarding reproductive properties.

Furthermore, are epigenetics hereditary?

Delivered from demonic oppression, maybe even possession.

I saw a homosexual who got baptized and he come up out of that water and had a, shall we say, crazy look and sound ( didn't sound human ) and dude was about 6 foot 4 and was thrashing all around.
