Obama has become everything he represented being against. Many young people who voted for him in ‘08 thought he was going to close the financial gap between white and black America. They also thought he was on the side of the “little guy”. He now has a home in Hawaii, Martha’s Vineyard, DC, and Chicago.

I posted at length during the election about this as well. All it will take is a bad economy under Trump and a little moderation by the DEMs and they roll in 2026. If the recession keeps up and without Trump in 2028, the GOP could easily be in trouble.

He was just as much black as he was white but ironically MANY voted for him because all they saw was the black part of him.
I remember seeing people in the hood wearing Obama shirts while driving on my way to work. Those same people would have never wore a Clinton shirt

It's arguable that Obama's re-election was the death of the dem party because it entrenched the "majority minority" theme as the new left wing electorate.
And by majority minority it's basically "everyone vs white males".
You can see how they've tried to continue that "majority minority" plan through the Hillary Clinton and Biden eras and it's just fell flat.
It's on it's last legs and won't survive without a figure like Obama and even Obama isn't as shiny as he once was.

I think demographics played a role here.
Also, IIRC the biggest gains were educated white people moving forward.
What flipped had nothing to do with race (directly) and became a class thing. The urban-rural divide (which was growing pre-Obama) kept growing as well as class/education. The DEMs became the party of the urban, educated, and minorities and the GOP became a white working class party. This was due to Trump, though, more than Obama.

That’s what I say about the left. Barack Obama is a very unimpressive person. Elevating him shows how shallow of a pool the left has. Elevating Biden and Harris after him, shows the left is bankrupt. None of these people should be an executive of anything, let alone the whole entire country.

I don’t know if he laid the foundation so much as he removed the guard rails that kept the party from running off a cliff. He was the de facto leader of the party. Every move he made to the left cost the party moderate Dems. The only place left they could turn to blunt the hemorrhaging of voters was the lunatic fringe of alphabet people, the mentally ill and radical communist, but even that wasn’t enough. That’s why they threw the border open and imported millions upon millions of illegals.
