We don't have to imagine to know what would've happened with him as President.

the difference is I didn’t have Fauci, Birx, and a gaggle of other self professed infectious disease experts giving me information and data that was suspect at best.

The hell you didn't. It ran 24/7 on every network and on every website.

But you were smart enough to think for yourself. You have a natural skepticism when it comes to things gov't bureaucrats and the media tell you.

quote:

You can bitch at Trump for being trusting or gullible but I have little doubt whoever was president in the early onset of the pandemic would have likely gotten duped by the entrenched bureaucratic health experts just like Trump did.

I read that like an indictment of Trump, not a defense.

And I'm not sure why you think the medical/political operatives were so incredibly persuasive. I mean think about it ... how could a rational person consume all the shite we were being fed about Covid and not think, "what are the chances that Covid is the one (so-called) threat that's real, after Russia, Russia, Russia, the phone call, literally Hitler, climate change, caging kids at the border, etc., etc?

Also, Trump was the president. Nobody was holding a gun to his head to make sure Fauci's voice was the only one he heard. If his instincts sucked so bad that it didn't dawn on him Fauci was a political operative first/healthcare official second - then all he had to do was consider the faces Fauci made behind him on the podium (remember those?) or the weir little smirk he gave the reporter walking out of the briefing room. Hell, remember Fauci's love letter to Hillary that went viral? How could you know that shite and fall for the BS?

I'm not saying it's right or it's wrong or it's good or it's bad I'm just telling you like it is.

If Desantis takes on Trump he will never be President. Not in 2024 or 2028 or ever.

He is 43 years old. All he needs to do is wait 4 years.

Taking on Trump is colossally stupid.

The Trump Desantis war will destroy any chance either man has.

The GOPe is telling him he won't need to beat Trump because it will be obvious Trump is non viable by summer.

That plan requires Democrat help and they will not provide that help.

Democrats will love Trump pounding on Desantis for a year.

Shocking how few people understand politics on a political board.

I don't care about your thoughts on what you think would happen.

I care about what did happen. We don't need to wonder if Trump would lose to Biden.

That was my comment.

One of two things is going to happen and pay close attention:

1): DeSantis will be President or

2): A Democrat will be President

Trump cannot win the national election. It simply boils down to that fact.

It simply boils down to that opinion, more accurately. Or are you a time traveler and have already seen what ended up happening??

I go back that we lost in 2018, we lost in 2020, we lost again or didn't win as big as we should have in 2022. Spare me the cheating narrative because mail in balloting is here to stay so it's either get with the program or get left behind. The road to 270 still runs through swing states and its swing voters. Period. Full Stop.

Whether it's fair or not Trump is just too toxic....it's not fair but he does it to himself as well because he is a very flawed candidate. The only chance we have to climb back is to ride DeSantis' star. There is no other option I/m/o. It's less about Trump himself than it is about what its going to take win. Trump has burned too many bridges in the Republican Party to be effective. He cannot govern and DeSantis can. You simply are going to have to build bridges with the establishment wing and find common ground. The Democrats are united as one and as long as we are divided, we are sunk.

DeSantis can win. Trump cannot. You can hold it over me if I am wrong but I won't be.

I just think it’s irrational to be that certain and make such a definitive conclusion on something as wildly unpredictable as a U.S. Presidential election, and particularly this far out. Just my opinion.

Two years is an eternity in political terms so I agree with you.

I would also add Trump's successes are getting further and further in the rearview mirror so people forget about all the good things he did and it's just all about the negativity that seems to follow him. The last major rally I watched and his announcement, it was like he was saying all the right things but it just feels off and dated. I don't hear solutions coming from him anymore. It's become more about his greviances than it is about the country. The optimism and excitement of 2015-2016 just isn't there it seems to me. He still has a loyal core base but I don't think it's going to translate nationally again like 2016......and he crapped out in 2020 and the 2022 midterms were pretty much a downvote on his candidates.

Right. If all that is true, he can’t win.

Can you blame him, Louisiana was the worst hit place by COVID when he did that and he didn’t want us spreading it in his state

He was the Governor of Florida and put "Floridians First". He basically treated states with high infection rates the same as Trump treated immigrants from states that sponsor terrorism.

He also shut down Floridians. He closed, by the power he held, Businesses in Florida.

He did not open them all back at once either. It was in 3 stages, the last being in 2021!

How is that not "kowtowing" to the "Covidians"?

quote:

Ask Florida school teachers and cruise ship passengers if he kowtowed to the Covidians.

Oct 21, 2021 — Ron DeSantis calls for lawmakers to end COVID vaccine mandates in Florida.

So for HOW LONG did he "KOWTOW" to them again?

Now wait.... Did DeSantis allow 6 month olds to get the vaccine after pressure?

Is that not KOWTOWING to the covidians?

I'm just saying...
