This country was founded on Judeo Christian values. A person may not believe in God, but I think morality is built into our souls. I think that morality is clearly stated in the biblical texts. If you hate religion fine, but that's the political side of it. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. The true values that people should live by still stands. When a group opposes religion, it typically goes to far, and starts corroding their very fiber. So I don't think people not wanting Satanic statues in government buildings is a fair ask. They are clearly stating that their values are the opposite of what the country was founded upon.

Perhaps but Satanism is literally the representation of evil: death, torment, hardship, oppression, bigotry. All the things progressives spout about being the detriments to the well being of our world, yet they want to celebrate Satan’s representation in government and decry anything that might be considered “White.”

Satan = evil

we can not officially accept evil as a protected class.

What kind of bullshite is this? You absolutely have the right to practice white supremacy and the KKK is a legal organization in the United States right now.

Of course you can't do illegal things and claim they are allowed under religious freedom, but we are talking about beliefs, not actions.

No shite. You can't commit crimes and claim religious protections. This is regarding belief systems, not actions.

Do people not understand that these people don't actually worship satan? This is all a manipulative tool to remove ALL religion from government. In most of these instances, there was some Christian statue or display at the courthouse, so the "satanists" were allowed to erect their display.

Remove all religious displays and problem solved.

The Satanists don’t actually believe in nor worship the Satan recognized by Christians. They are just trolling Christians and it seems to be working.

Fed Gov and IRS shouldn’t be in the business of recognizing religions anyway. But if they are going to do it, they’ve got to recognize all the crazies including Scientologists, Satanists, Mormons, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc. etc.

This is the crap that has scuttled DeSantis’ chances in 2024.

Trump may be a blowhard about a lot of things, but he doesn’t go nearly as far into culture wars stuff as Ron does.

It may gin up the clicks, but it’s a losing strategy.

Well, it's just a different flavor of populism.

Trump is not my first choice, but neither is DeSantis (although I would take DeSantis over Trump), because the Culture Wars that he engages in tempt him into disregarding and violating the constitution.

He's already done it a couple of times in Florida.

I don't have a problem per se with upholding traditional values because—whether people realize it or not—values are what people really disagree about and what the real political fight is about.

It's not really about the economy...everyone will say they want a better economy. It's about the fact that the left values virtue signaling on Climate Change over the economic consequences of prioritizing it and the right doesn't value the virtue signaling at all.

It's not really about abortion, it's about the fact that the right values the right to life of the unborn over the right of the mother to self-determine, and the left values the opposite.

It's not really about crime...everyone will tell you they want less crime, but again, the left values virtue signaling more than the consequences of prioritizing it, and the right doesn't value it at all.

So I'm not down on DeSantis for prioritizing the clash of values. I think he's right that that's where the real battle is. But he's too willing to bend the constitution for him to be my first choice. Because I value the constitution.

He's not ignoring the Constitution though. He's just moving us back to the interpretation before the Warren Court just made the Constitution to mean a "living document".

So many Republicans have gotten used to accepting the terms the Left has set they don't even understand the rules anymore. You either fight back or you lose, there is no in between.

I wish it were that simple, but if you look at some of the things that are happening around paralegal sharia in europe, or even medical objections here in the US. The lines are more blurred than many think

Until they act you're criminalizing thought. That's the catch-22 criminalizing thought it evil but if you don't you lose out on potentially stopping a terror attack.

Tolerance may or may not be a Christian virtue but free will is. Even God himself allows people to choose to follow Satan.

If God allows it who are we to not? If people choose evil or following Satan knowing the eternal consequences, so be it.

The culture wars is about the country surviving. We can win elections. But if we lose the culture war, we’ve been elected over nothing of value.

This specific group, assuming they are LaVeyan Satanists then yes but there are absolutely theistic Satanists in America. It's a comically small group of people but they do exist.

How can it meaningfully protect religious rights if it doesn’t discriminate as to what constitutes a religion?

Yep. This country was literally founded on religious freedom and I’ll be against anything people try to use religious beliefs to justify, i.e. the abortion issue.
