Imo, this could potentially be Ron's 2nd huge mistake. The play here is to absolutely get behind Donalds.

You are correct. I use to feel bad for Ron because I thought he was a good Governor who listened to his dumbass wife about running in 24. Now I see he is actually just as much of a dumbass as his wife Casey. His political future was 6 ft under with his decision to run in 24. Not supporting Donalds and trying to install his wife will go ahead and cover his grave with concrete

The desantis loyalists didn’t like when Trump called out republicans though. And here is desantis doing just that.

I supported Trump for doing it and I support Ron for doing it as well.

DeSantis has not been wise politically over the past few years. It was very obvious before he even put his name in as a republican candidate for president that he didn't have a chance and he's not reading the room correctly again.

DeSantis was trying to attack DEI in education in FL. I believe he was in the POTUS race at this point but I don't remember. He was getting the expected attacks from the left and media, DeSantis trying to eliminate education on civil rights, slavery, so forth. Essentially DeSantis was stepping onto a media/leftist third rail and leading the way on it as he did on a lot of other stuff as governor (LGBT an obvious other one).

Donalds, who was a Trump surrogate at the time, went to the press and made some commentary about DeSantis going too far, leaning into the left wing tropes (and I think in particular, a Soros org talking point) about the efforts of DeSantis trying to purge DEI/CRT themes from K-12.

TLDR: Donalds, very likely in disingenuous fashion, was used as the hatchet man for the Trump campaign related to bold, conservative action DeSantis was undertaking against tough odds in FL as governor.

I remember that kerfluffle now! Didn't click that it was Byron Donalds. Thanks for the memory boost!

He tried to play the race card for political points like a despicable Democrat. Funny thing, he used to be a Democrat. Another funny thing, he was charged with a felony bribery for bank fraud.

He can’t be close to being the best option.

Not really. This is just a very online, very pro-Trump place. In the real world people like DeSantis quite a lot and don't disagree with his statement here.

Yeah, just throw the word "apparently" in there... or "sources close to" or "seems like" or something similar and you can get away with saying anything.

Sane people won’t be able to find anything wrong his comments.

The funny thing is that he’s talking about supporting the Trump agenda.

This is the most overlooked concern in Washington right now. A Republican controlled congress is achieving very little and no one seems to care.

Not impressed with Anna Paulina Luna and her task force going to Dallas to interview witnesses of the JFK assassination?

The reality is I don't think Donalds believed in what he was doing and I don't hold it substantively against him like some do (in other words, I don't think he supports DEI, etc.).

And I could be persuaded that it's politics, this is how it works, and sometimes former friends do unseemly things in campaigns - all of that. If I'm BD I probably forgive if Donalds apologizes for it, etc.

BUT, it's ridiculous that the typical crowd on here acts like DeSantis has no basis for being hesitant on Donalds and that this saga never happened.

He's probably right. On the street among conservatives in FL and elsewhere, I'd be highly surprised if 1 in 10 had much interest/knowledge of the Trump-Ron feud. I imagine the overwhelming majority of conservatives think generally of them pulling in the same direction.

Not a good look after Trump just endorsed Donald’s. Ron loves to deviate against maga. I’ll laugh when he endorses his wife and then we eventually lose Florida to Dems.

Question - What elected position did DeSantis hold when he first ran for Governor?

You’re talking to a guy who said he wouldn’t ever vote for Trump unless Utah needed one vote and now he claims he mail in voted for Trump

He is right.

That’s exactly how it is in Florida and the real world.
