Correct. Dersh has become the legal version of Musk. Once a hero of the left, but now hated.

Every jury trial I have ever had or witnessed had the judge dismiss the alternates at the close of the evidence. They're only there if a juror has to be replaced DURING THE TRIAL. Not to break a deadlock or.avpid a hung jury.

If a juror has to leave for some reason, such as illness/hardship, but the jury alternates were dismissed, its an immediate hung-jury/mistrial.

It's possible a juror has some kind of issue we're unaware of, and the judge is being careful. It's all speculation.

I'm not a lawyer, but I didn't think a judge could just toss a juror off. That would be grounds for appeal/dismissal, IMO.

My post makes perfect sense.

Dersh's bread is buttered with MAGA support these days.

He'll say any stupid or insane thing the echo chamber wants to hear, whether he believes it (or it being rational/realistic) or not.

This is particularly shameful stuff. He shed honor/respect to get paid, which is why it's a grift.
He's basing it off two observations, and states those observations for all to see:

1. he hasn't dismissed the alternates which in of itself isn't necessarily telling
2. He did get to see Merchan's behavior, which was unethical and unconstitutional, in the arse chewing of Costello which was in a cleared (almost) courtroom.

So how is it a grift when he explains his reasoning and that reasoning is sound?

“Is that even legal?”

The Left doesn’t need to conviction to survive appeal in 2026. They just need Trump a convicted felon on Election Day.

Dershowitz is grifting for Trump? If that’s the case, up truly is down. What would he even have to gain from this?

Dershowitz is consistent in keeping his politics out of his legal reasoning, he regularly says he hates trump and doesnt support him in any way, but he calls out the legal process based on the laws on the books and what is right or wrong based on facts and not politics.

personally i think he may be one of the few moderate democrats still alive

Maybe. Then we'll put you down as someone who would be appalled if the judge actually did it.

SFP has zero common sense and/or morals. That is why he will put together some word salad explaining why everyone else including one of the best lawyers in the world is wrong and grifting. It is sad to see someone that thinks he is smart show how stupid he really is. SFP has no shame.

The dude cited an example of this happening

Saying you've seen it happen before may technically be a cite, but if he was really discussing this honestly, he'd have gotten into the details to permit comparison. The fact that he kept it vague shows either his deceit or dishonesty.

I've seen a juror get kicked off a jury, too. He kept falling asleep during the trial after being warned multiple times not to do so. Would anybody say that is applicable to this scenario? Of course not. That's why details matter.
