This has a lot to do with it in a lot of cases. My uncle who half arse brushes once a day and drinks soda constantly and smoked for 25 years just recently had his first tooth pulled.

He's 64 years old.

Dental “insurance” is pretty much for two cleanings and routine x-rays. If you need anything more than that, better find your credit card or checkbook.

Granted, dental premiums typically are not that much.

There are no worse people in the world than the smug Karen bitches in scrubs who handle dental billing. It’s uncanny, no matter where you go.

Stupid shite will cost you…like the dentist saying a 14 y/o is an adult, but insurance company saying child.

Cost me $1,200+ for a crown last year.

Just cost me over $2,200 for my oldest to get all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. That one is on me, I will not let him join the military (navy pulled mine, John Q paid for it, thanks). But it’s worth any amount not to have my sons ruined by wokeness, forced to get the death clot shot, and die in far away shitholes for nothing other than others getting richer.

It’s costly, but our dentist is excellent.

Floss and brush twice a day. And don’t half-arse it.

Therefore, the cost for two dental implants could range widely from about $6,000 to $11,600. Isn't that CRAZY!?

Plastic surgery isn’t covered by insurance. This is a testament to the free market.

Dental care is an important part of health.

There is no reason insurance companies should be able to separate it from health care.

It should be illegal to require separate coverage.

My problem is not the quality of care but how long it takes to be seen. I have a crown that needs to be redone but it's going to take close to 3 months from the time they diagnosed it before they start the work

OP says (with insurance). They aren’t covered for cosmetic reasons but are for accidents according to Google.

What sort of accident? Biting down on a hard piece of matter in your food like a popcorn kernel or pearl in an oyster count?

I had an old country Dentist in Louisiana F up two of my teeth (which I lived with for 8-10 years) then I knocked one of my front teeth out with a wrench.

I decided to get all three of them fixed for good with implants, after my insurance I think my part was $13,000.00.

Get your dental work done abroad for 40 cents on the dollar. Costa Rica is higher for dental tourism

Probably one in which you lose your teeth. Car, sports, drunkenness would seem like obvious occasions.

Dentistry is a scam designed to keep you having to keep going back as their fixes induce more pain doen the road, avoid them at all cost by cutting down on sugar consumption

The obvious reason is obvious, but what people don't realize is a woman with no teeth is generally self conscience so she keeps her damn mouth shut most of the time.

Go to the UK. You'll think our dental care is inspired by comparison.

Jump across the border and visit a dentist Mexico and you’ll save a lot of money.

With proper hygiene and checkups, you are correct. When was the last time you visited your Dentist? My Dentist told me he loves the guys that come in once every 5 years or so because they are going to need some work for lack of proper care.

I hadn’t gone to a dentist for 6 years. Cleanings were expensive for a broke college kid. Finally got dental through work and started going back. Still had no cavities.

I brush and floss though.

What people don’t realize is that many dentist who are unscrupulous will find cavities that aren’t really there so they can drill it and fill it and charge you for it. I had a dentist that did that when I was 23. The place I worked had 100% coverage for dental so I took advantage of it. Now 40 years later, all of those fillings have had to be removed because they were falling apart. I take great care of my teeth, so I haven’t had a cavity filled in over 40 years.

I get 4 free cleanings a year via insurance. Maybe get a better job with better insurance coverage?
