Democrats can now easily win a veto proof majority in the Senate in 2028.

Looking at the slate of senators up for reelection in 2028, Dems will most likely get to 60 seats.

So until then we may not have too much damage done by them? I guess that is good news.

Never underestimate the Dems to frick something up between then.

You said this in my thread and I'll say it on your thread:
We are far away from 290 House votes and 67 Senate Votes to be "veto Proof"
It won't happen

This doesn’t matter when they’ll get rid of the filibuster if the get the Whitehouse.

Veto proof is 67. Filibuster proof is 60.

Things can change fast in politics, when Obama started his first term the democrats held a 257-178 advantage in the house. The very next election the Republicans took the majority. That doesn't guarantee anything for 2028 of course but you never know what the future might bring

Veto proof =/= filibuster proof my guy

They need 67, not 60. 60 is for the filibuster.

His re-election bid was in jeopardy in 2012. Voters never trusted him again after the Obamacare debacle and made sure Republicans controlled the House for the entirety of his second term.

I see 2 good dem flips, Wisconsin and North Carolina and 1 good GOP flip in Ohio
Iowa needs Ashley Hinson to run with chuck Grassley retiring

Brush up on your civics class. You're confusing veto proof and filibuster proof.
Veto proof would require 2/3 in both the House and the Senate. So the Dems would need 67 votes in the Senate plus need a 290 to 145 advantage in the House to override a veto.
The Dems won't get anywhere close to veto proof in 2028......but if they win the presidency, they're probably going to push to scrap the filibuster in the senate anyway so they can ram through every bill they want.

They are at 56 seats now...
Ohio's seat may flip back red in '28 (this special term is only for two years)
GOP seats in Wisconsin and North Carolina are at high risk.
Other risk is that Grassley dies before 2028 and Sand replaces him with a Democrat, but that would be another 2 year seat as well.
I don't see how they get to 60, even with another blue wave in '28. All the other seats are in deep red states that won't flip with presidential level turnout.

No I’m worried. We had no idea the senate was going flip by this much.
Now all they have to do is defund DHS, which defunds ICE even though it’s supposed to be funded through 2029.
Your new Texas governor isn’t going to stop the flood. Nothing is stopping them now.
It won’t be that hard for them to flip several more seats.
Not to mention the 2030 census will be fricked now and who knows how many house seats they will add.

Lankford from here in Oklahoma is a dead man walking in 28.
If a Republican besides Lankford doesn't win the primary, I won't vote for Lankford. If Lankford wins the primary in 28, a Dem has a real chance in the primary.

They're going to lean HARD left the next 2 years and spend most of their time trying to lock up Trump and anyone who has ever been associated with them. They're relatively harmless to you and I.
2028 is on the clock now, though. Republicans need to figure out how push MAGA out the door and convince people that DeSantis and Rubio aren't associated with him.

You need to look at the races that will be on the ballot in 2028. There’s 18 senate seats currently held by GOP that will be up for re-election and only 2 of those should be competitive races. There’s also 1 or 2 seats currently held by Dems that might be flippable. The Dems would need to flip at least 11 of the 18 GOP seats to get a veto proof majority. Ain’t happening.
The losses this week are 100% attributable to Trump getting us into the Iran nonsense and the resulting spike in gas priced, inflation on everyday items, and interest rates. Without us getting into the Iran bullshite, the Dems probably pickup a enough seats to have a slim majority in congress….which would be fairly normal for the minority party in midterms. But Trump’s unpopularity right now is what cost us a lot more seats than we should have lost.
