You would think that, being AG's, they would have learned in Civics class that the president is unable to vote in the senate.

And Trump should tell them to frick off.
Pretty sure the executive has the ability to determine what items get paid during a government shutdown.
EBT ain’t a legal priority, just a political one.

Are they trying to impeach him for the shutdown? That would be genius LMAO!
Posted on 10/28/25 at 3:21 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
Interesting. The democrats that are responsible for the shutdown are suing because of the shutdown?

Hmmmm... I'm pretty certain that Trump has no control of the distribution of EBT/SNAP benefits without proper funding and authorization from congress.
False
quote:
The Trump Administration recently claimed that SNAP benefits are not available for November 2025 because SNAP’s “contingency funds are not legally available to cover regular benefits.”[1] This stands in opposition to the law and prior practice, including by the Trump Administration itself. Also, the Administration could use its legal transfer authority — the same authority it already used to provide additional funds to WIC — to supplement the contingency reserves, which alone are not enough to fund families’ full benefits for November. The Administration must use all available options to fund November benefits for the 1 in 8 people in the U.S. who need SNAP to afford their grocery bill.
quote:
The Administration’s assertion that it cannot use SNAP’s contingency reserves to cover regular SNAP benefits is contrary to:
The plain language of the law;
Prior Trump Administration practice - including as recently as a few weeks ago in the Agriculture Department (USDA) Lapse of Funding Plan, which the agency has since removed from its website;[2]
The first Trump Administration’s understanding, as communicated repeatedly in multiple USDA documents and confirmed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), that contingency funds could be used for SNAP benefits during the 2018-2019 shutdown.
Previous administrations’ understanding that contingency funds could be used for SNAP benefits during a shutdown.

Surprised it wasn’t Wal-Mart and Cargill.

I’m curious about the language surrounding that contingency funding.
If it’s for emergencies, then the Trump administration can rightfully hold it for an emergency. ESP if it’s a general USDA fund (not explicitly for SNAP).
A political shutdown is not an emergency.

Congress has power of the purse not states. There is no gov budget, the purse is empty.

These fricking so called Fake MAGA people, Podcasters and fake MAGAs in congress are pissing me off - that includes her, Tucker, Candace bla bla bla - Just shut the frick up and let things work out without you pieces of shite adding fuel to the fire
Keep telling conservatives they are no longer wanted in the party because they don't conform the way you want them too.
Reminds me of the left canceling anyone who wasn't woke enough.

What does Trump have to do with the shutdown? Congress as full control of this issue. Trump is just the executive in charge to administer the funds, when they are available to him to spend.

I thought that Congress not the judicial or executive branch held the power of the purse.

I don’t want her removed from office - I just want her to shut the frick up and stop acting so fricking jealous over other women in Trump’s cabinet

One of this biggest problems here is that someone will say something popular yet untrue and others will just repeat it. ..
Not half. Not a tenth.

In fiscal year 2022, approximately 1.465 million noncitizens received SNAP benefits. This group includes lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, and those granted a stay of deportation. A total of 2.2 million children living with noncitizens also received benefits.

You want her to conform.
I don't see any real negotiations going on for the people. The best case is a CR which is extremely high levels of spending like before, or even more spending than before.
I don't give a remote frick about this shite. I hope it stays shut down to the point people realize how much they are getting fricked.

That is how they will try to convince the average American everything’s Trump’s fault. 1.5 trillion dollars more debt means nothing to us anymore.
However.
Remember DOGE.
