Both sides censor it’s just both sides are offended by what the other side wants to censor. The left wants to censor Huck Finn and Dr. Seuss and the right wants to ban gay sex how to and graphic holocaust books.

Republicans don’t want books banned.
We just don’t want sex books in school libraries.
If a kid is 18 and wants to go to the store and buy sex books that’s fine. Just don’t give it to them in the fourth grade.
There is a huge difference between saying something is banned and inappropriate for kids.

well what does "child" mean? does it mean 10? in that case, sure, its more than likely inappropriate.

Per CNN it was removed from an 8th grade library in Tennessee bc of profanity and nudity.
So 12-13...not appropriate.

The Color Purple for example, sex is one of the reasons the right has used to ban it, and it is damn sure not a "sex book".
"Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."
thats Ezekiel 23:19-20. sex book?

There has been a big hoopla here locally over a display at the public library. The issue isn’t the books are in the library but the fact they have been on prominent display and some deem them to be making a political statement. So not looking to have them removed as I understand.
quote:
One of the books in the displays that has drawn criticism is a collection of essays edited by Jack Guinness called “The Queer Bible.” Another is “As a Woman: What I Learned about Power, Sex, and the Patriarchy after I Transitioned” By Paula Stone Williams. The description on Amazon says that the book is a memoir of a transgender pastor’s transition from male to female. Other titles include “Outlove: A Queer Christian Survival Story” by Julie Rodgers, “the Name I Call Myself” by Hasan Namir and “People of Pride: 25 Great LGBTQ Americans” by Chase Clemesha.

This thread proves that parents wanted the following books removed from libraries that their kids go to: 1) a book that nobody ever heard of about mice and cats in the Holocaust that contained profanity and naked photographs; 2) an illustrated how to book on sex acts directed to 4th graders and 3) the Color Purple bc it describes marital rape. Hillary Clinton is making speeches about it and people are making memes about it - but not citing examples.
This thread also shows that educators have demonstrated their desire to remove the following offensive materials from school libraries: 1) Dr. Seuss; 2) Huckleberry Finn; 3) To Kill a Mockingbird; and 4) (I forgot about this one) Little House on the Prairie.
I’m not huge on censorship either. And the mouse book was probably stupid to take out unless the picture of the naked lady was really graphic and sexualized and there were F bombs throughout.
I can also say that this thread proves who may be attempting to erase American History and culture and who is trying to make sure they teach sexual values and mores to kids. And for some reason those people call themselves “teachers” or “educators.”

I think it’s because conservatives don’t want books in school libraries showing a guy giving a bj to another guy as was shown on Fox News a few days ago. The guy running the school library is a gay activist who brags about trying to indoctrinate kids into the gay lifestyle.

I meant in terms of extent, effort and effectiveness.
In terms of "taking it," you'd be correct.

Protesting as in industry. Fantastic. Except when you're protesting actual real things, like oppressive mandates, then you're branded a terrorist.

Banning means not wanting to expose your preteen children to books containing adult language and situations to liberals. They need every talking point they an get for the indy base right now.
Indy's are smarter than the rhetoric and realize no one is calling for WalMart and Amazonn to stop selling these books, just not teach the shite that is in them to preteens.
Everyone still on Facebook has mild mental illness at best. Facebook is pure unfiltered AIDS
