Oh right. That makes me feel better with a completely subjective and overly complex tax code that can be used against any citizen politically.

I think we should abolish the IRS in favor of a sales tax payable on publicly traded stock sales and goods sold in interstate commerce.

frick the IRS.

And ETA - you have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide has been the mantra of tyrants since tyrants existed.

frick the IRS. You should be immune to audits unless you’re a Democrat. If you are a Democrat I would like an IRS agent armed with a “weapon of war” inserted up your arse.

My dad's business got audited back in the late 70's / early 80`s.

He had always taught me, “You never take every deduction when you file taxes. You never know when you will really need those deductions. "

Sure enough, he was audited seven years in a row. Each year, the government owed his business money. After seven straight years (he must have pissed off somebody years ago) they finally gave up and he never had another audit. Thank God for my meticulous" there's a place for everything and everything in its place" mother who was a stickler for detail and who managed the books.

They’ll probably start auditing everyone for every deposit made. Someone gave you 200 bucks as a gift? Well you didn’t claim that on taxes

Sold an ATV for 1500? Don’t have a record of the sale? Gotta pay tax on it then

Honestly, here’s question: have you ever met anyone who introduced themselves as an IRS agent in a public setting? Not when they’re at your office or calling you about tax discrepancies, but at say a bar. No one would have the balls to do that I don’t think, because for sure the next thing that is going to come out of the person they’re talking to’s mouth will be “Go frick yourself.” You might as well introduce yourself as a serial child molester. Honestly if an IRS agent ever does an audit on your company, just do this to his coffee when he isn’t looking:

Tax collectors were even despised in Jesus’ day

That is indeed true. While prostitution may be the world’s oldest profession, tax collector is certainly the world’s oldest despised profession.

The shite coming from our "leaders" nowdays makes me sad. I don't like to use the word; "hopeless," but it's starting to feel pretty hopeless. Anything short of a complete overhaul of our government and its bureauacracies won't make a difference.

We're fricked.

The biggest concern that no one is mentioning is where would they even find 87k competent employees. McDonald’s can’t find fry cooks but they think they can fill these positions? Anyone competent enough to be an irs auditor would make way more in the private sector. This just means that you will have idiots questioning tax payers and will be more wrong than right. Remember, each employee will have to ‘find’ more money in their audits annually to pay their own salary or the taxpayers are just paying their salaries anyways. It’s beyond ridiculous.
