ALso, take a look at Kentucky. More than 20k people voted for governor than they did for attorney general. Both races were on state-wide ballots, I'm supposed to believe that people cast a vote for governor but didn't take the time to vote for AG? In an election decided by 4k votes, questions need to be asked.

It happens. I was waiting in line to vote during the 2012 presidential election, and there was a black woman ahead of me. It took her 3 seconds to vote. Voted for Obama and hauled arse, even though there were plenty of local a state elections on the ballot.

It would be interesting to know why people vote against their own party or skip the vote sometimes. Last year in Florida the republicans won everything but agriculture commissioner.

What pisses me off about Virginia is that the men and women who work in D.C. turned it blue. Northern Virginia is filled to the brim with bleeding heart liberal Ivy Leaguers from the northeast who settled in this area because the Maryland side of the DMV is more expensive and less safe.

They are going to turn this place into Maryland, get pissed off about it and wonder what the hell happened, move further south to escape and then repeat the process in the Carolinas.

They've been piping illegals into NOVA for decades. That's how.

True, but that really does not explain the sea change. After 9/11 the Virginia suburbs exploded big time because the federal bureaucracy and ancillary support services exploded and a great number of those government workers trended Democrat. Go to places like Alexandria, it is a hipster paradise along with Arlington

In Louisiana last month 1,343,478 votes were cast for governor. 1,286,472 were cast in the Secretary of state race. That's 57,006 votes fewer.

I get that it happens. It just seems so dumb to me that it happens.

You’re behaving like a Democrat. Don’t behave like a democrat.

It happens every election. The big races get more votes. I do it when I don't know enough about the candidates in smaller elections.

Not much on history, huh. My place is a mile from a Nat'l Historic park that says otherwise.

Bevin pissed off thousands of teachers by messing with their pensions. If you are looking for a reason he lost that is the main one.

This is the home state of General Robert Lee. If anything it should represent the pride of the South.

What happened?

Think of NoVa as a septic tumor in the frontal lobe that has finally taken control of the brain and has gotten way too big to remove.

Spillover from DC got way out of hand.
