Isn't Utah one of the states with a flood of California transplants over the past 10-20 years? Seems that this is just the fruits of that emigration.

You're going to see the same thing in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming over the next 10-20 years (you can see some of it in that picture, actually).

Remember it would only take like 100k population shift to swing those sparsely-populated Western states like Montana and Wyoming (or the Dakotas)

A good reason for the Dems to keep California hard to live in.

To be fair, Mormons are fricking weird.

Catholics are not far behind them. Too many priest, Bishops, and sadly even the new Pope muddies up God's teachings in order to appease the liberal ideology. They take the basic tenet of
"Do unto others as you would have them do into you", and use it consistently to contradict the faiths teaching in order to appease liberal indoctrination.

The Pope recently blamed guns for the recent church shooting. He blamed a man made tool instead of the infection within the man as the problem. If you cannot get the teachings of Christ to cure society ills, where does society turn? To man! This is the problem with the Catholic Church today and all Christian faiths. They continue to force society to look to government and man to fix their problems instead of sending society to God to learn how to heal society.

It could be that or California people moving to get away, but still voting the same.

It’s both. I am in Utah now at my house in the Heber Valley. The growth around the Salt Lake Valley and nearby environs is staggering. And the winter olympics in 2034 are going to be an accelerant.

Utah is the deconstruction hotspot and its working.

Salt Lake City was colonized by Californians that couldn’t afford the cost of living in Denver and Boulder. There are gay flags everywhere. The city of Brigham Young was conquered and colonized.

And meanwhile look at those border towns becoming redder than Mars.

Ironic

That's what's happening in Arizona. I've seen it firsthand.

This along with Oregon and Washington.

Utah made a major effort to build a new tech industry hub just north of Lehi. Tons of west coasters moved in. It really messed up the housing market there. My house there is so inflated, I still cannot sell it.

Even before that, it was known as a hipster capital. The area around SLC proper is heavily populated with LGBTQ+ and has been since I moved there in 2014. While it didn't get the national coverage of major cities, the BLM riots were quiet bad in the downtown area.

Really glad to get out. With that, the extreme cost of living currently and the extremely bad air quality in the valley, I would not recommend it as a place to move

Not that hard to figure out. 2012 had Romney on the ticket, so a guy that would be heavily favored in Utah and draw a large turnout. 2024 had Trump on the ticket and Mormons are not big fans of Trump (although they will still vote for him over a Democrat). I think you'll see a more enthusiastic turnout for the next Republican candidate in Utah.

Overall it's still one of the heaviest leaning conservative states in the country. UVU is in Utah County which is the 2nd strongest Republican county in the country with a population over 700,000 (behind Montgomery County, TX).

I’m enjoying being 50 minutes north of SLC.

I want no part of SLC though.

We don’t have a single Dem in city council or mayor up here. Few Beggers and almost no crime.

Being surrounded by Mormon families has some benefits.

My brother in law is from there. The Californians come in and buy small ranches then after one winter bail out. His dad has sold one piece of property three times to buy it back and sell again.

Some of Utah’s problem is Colorado Greenies coming in.

I was just north of SLC, around the northern point of the mountain on the North Salt Lake benches, just above Eaglewood golf course. I can see downtown Ogden and beyond from my back deck. Great place to live, but everyone who has moved in since 2019 has been liberal. Pride flags everywhere.

Salt Lake City is a liberal oasis.

Mormons are not the majority and the mayor is not Mormon.
