Martin Luther would have a field day with this guy.

Absolutely correct. If sniveling coward scum frick democrats were in charge today and Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese, they would call on us to defend the rights of the Japanese to protest against our sanctions, even though we disagree with them. Even FDR is turning over in his grave, thinking of the simpering, sniveling cowards democrats have become.

I cannot remember ever seeing Catholic clergy publicly take sides like this.
Depends on the Bishop. There's a conservative/liberal divide in the USCCB just as there is in the country.
As a Conservative Catholic, I'd just prefer them focus on making the Church a more welcoming place and supporter of all those who practice the faith.

Basically saying “ please don’t ever come back to the Church because we have completely given up “ to millions of Catholic normals.

This.
American Catholic Bishops have done the most damage to the Church. Their weak stance has chased away the faithful. They dare not question politicians that use their professed Catholic faith while actively going against church teachings and scripture.
Now they have to pander to illegal immigrants to make up those numbers despite the catechism saying that just laws of nations should be followed. They never question the immigration policies of other nations despite them being harsher than our own.
Then there is the weak and ineffective leadership with the molestation of children. Instead of ridding the church of the snakes that have infiltrated it, they swept it under the rug.
That rumbling you hear? Oh, that's Bishop Fulton J. Sheen spinning in his grave.

find it baffling and reprehensible that any Catholic facility would allow itself to be so egregiously misused and manipulated in a fashion that violates our religious principles, which call us to defend the rights of all people even those with whom we might disagree,” the nation’s highest-ranking African-American bishop said.
Later he retreated into the basement of the Church to diddle kids.....or so I heard......

Yes! The church is constantly preaching about attracting people back. Why not use that moment to bring people together? The bad actors are revealing themselves.

He doesn’t represent all Catholics in his view point. Sure, there are a lot of liberal Catholics in the US, but there are also many conservatives. The good news is many young Catholics are extremely conservative and despise the boomer Vatican II mentality.
The church has blood and guilt on its hands from the abuse scandal, but it is still the truth in its dogma even though many of the bishops and even the pope may be cowards.
The church was infiltrated by the lavender mafia (gay and boomer culture.)

He’s probably pissed because trump didn’t sacrifice a young boys virginity which is fairly standard for the pope!

GET.OVER.IT.
melania is catholic. and trump showed great respect by doing this. stop crying. you should be happy. paid respect to a church and judeo-christian foundation. too many libtards in that parish obviously.

I agree. If and when I find my way back to such a relationship it probably won't be as a Catholic.

SPJPII Shrine is run by the Knights of Columbus...it's all on CUA/National Basilica property. No Parish assignment, nor is it under the designation of said Archbishop that isn't happy about Trump's visit.
The most "political" thing the Catholic Church in the US has been involved in is the Pro Life movement...which is insane given that 45 is by far the most Pro-Life President since Roe v. Wade.

THIS response (the archbishop), is one of about eight reasons I no longer consider myself a Catholic.

The Catholic Church’s congregations grow smaller every day. I wouldn’t think the good Archbishop would be discouraging ANYONE from showing up.
