Dave Chappelle: I’m torn on the latest controversy…

On one hand, I am completely on his side. I generally think he is one of the goats of stand up. While this last special wasn’t as laugh out loud funny for me, I still enjoyed it and couldn’t listen to Chappelle riff for hours.
So in that sense I hate the losers coming out against him right now and frick all of this cancel culture nonsense.
BUT, on the other hand, I also enjoy some “reap what you sow” moments, and if Chappelle is actually cancelled I hope this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back on finally making culture do a 180.
Because even though Chappelle, Rogan, Bill Maher, and others will come out against cancel culture, their condemnation of the Democratic party is either tepid or non existent. And they refuse to acknowledge that by voting the way they have for years, that they have contributed to all of this woke bull shite. The woke culture of today was an inevitability based off of the policies and arguments that the left has made for decades.
So even when Bill Maher for example talks about changing the fringe left, he still expresses disdain for conservatives, and will never actually leave the democratic plantation.
So let them get cancelled for all I fricking care. They brought it on themselves.

I think you are safe. I have never, in all my years on this earth, been asked do I side with Chappelle or not.

Fine, I reworded the title. The point isnt about my own stance really.

I don't think Rogan is voting Dem. I'm pretty sure he is an independant or liberal. I don't think he has been on the dems side in a awhile now.

I was just discussing this in another thread. Cancel culture, intolerance of other viewpoints, and other forms of authoritarianism need to be fought by all Americans. In the past we fought against it from the right particularly the Christian right. Now the pendulum has swung back.

You can't cancel Chappelle because he'll just hit you back harder.

Has Chappelle ever been on the pro-cancel side of things?

Hmmm, being part of cancel culture and then getting canceled by it. Something about this reminds me of Robespierre.

Pretty much.
How hard can you cancel a guy who walked away from a $60m deal over material he thought was racist and wanted never to see the light of day?

That's not how it happened. But it makes him sound like he did it over principles and not a mental breakdown, so let's go with it.

I don't feel sorry for him, reap what you sew. Maybe this will red pill him but I doubt it. He was doing nothing but bashing white people and conservatives in that last show. So frick Dave Chappelle

What is truly amazing is that this is entirely self inflicted. They could wake up tomorrow and simply admit their mistake and start taking steps to change things. But they won’t. They have effectively created Frankenstein’s monster, and it is out of control. Unfortunately I feel it would take a kinetic event of a national significance for something to change the course. Hope I am wrong.

Didn’t Chappelle do an entire skit telling everyone in the audience they would one day find a reason to cancel him?

If there is any comedian out there right now that doesn't GAF it's Chappelle. He makes fun of everyone. Stop being so uptight about someone who makes fun of everyone because you don't like the jokes about yourself. That's just as bad as the woke side.

Rogan was never voted for a Republican and is favor of universal health care and universal basic income.

Nah he's done that his whole career, he gets away with it because the color of his skin. If a white comedian went up there and said the things about blacks he says that person would be cancelled in a heartbeat. His older stuff is funny this new shite is just who he really is a racist.

You must not have heard Neal Brennan do standup.

Look, Maher and Chapelle are multimillionaires are finally getting a taste of what the average Trump supporter has been getting. Let them learn a lesson.

He says he voted third party the last two elections. I don't know him obviously, but if you listen to his podcast often (which I do), then you'd have a hard time believing he'll be voting for any democrat running for president in the foreseeable future if the trend keeps up. It would take somebody like Tulsi Gabbard to get the nomination, which will never happen. I'd argue it's more likely that he'd vote for a Republican than a Democrat in future elections.
