Yes because your choice of translation being the King James Version to cherry pick a certain wording that is half a millennium out of modern vernacular.
Calamity, chaos, etc is a more accurate translation.
Please tell me, do you know the difference in the line of manuscripts the KJV comes from vs the line of manuscripts something the ESV comes from?
Do you know why serious biblical scholars do not favor the KJV? In terms of manuscripts?
No you are just trying to cherry pick to dunk on Christians who aren’t as theologically deep as they should be.
But ultimately yes, the Lord in his sovereignty does not prevent some evil.
And in an arrogant modern western mindset of a finite being it’s comical to think you know better what to allow than an all knowing creator. You can’t think of a reason, so there must not be any good reason for bad things to happen. As if you are the source of all knowledge in the universe and you can’t miss anything
The modern atheist and agnostics are the smartest dumb guys in the room. They dunk on armchair Christians with shallow views all day but literally have not brought a single new objection to the Christian faith in centuries. Actual Christian theologians and philosophers have given plenty of adequate responses to these juvenile internet atheist troll attacks.

I saw a video of another man who was a physician saying he tried to help him, but he died instantly after getting hit in the head. He also said his brains were blown out.
He had put his body in position to protect his wife and daughter.
Damn.

I watched that doctor being interviewed. And he said that if Trump had not turned his head to look at the big screen when he did, he would have had the same fate. If you look closely, right before he is hit, he turns his head just a little more to his right. That's when he was hit. Otherwise, he would have been hit ear to the back of the head.

God created evil, He had to
Why? Why would a supposed good all-knowing deity who loves his creation create evil. The loving god created evil so people would suffer?
quote:
He doesn’t cause evil.
You’re splitting hairs. If he created evil then he’s the primary root cause of evil.
quote:
The ruler of this world causes evil
If you accept that. Then who is the cause or creator of the archon of this aeon?

My favorite translation for Isaiah 45:7 is the KJV because I think it is the most accurate.
Genesis 3:22 translates “ra” as “evil” as in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Every translation I checked uses “evil” in English here, and that includes KJV, ESV, NASB, NET, NIV… etc.
The same exact Hebrew word “ra” in Isaiah 45:7 and 1 Samuel 16:14 is “evil” in the KJV. The other translations (including ESV which in my opinion is one of the most accurate modern translations) are all over the place on this word in these two verses. They all called it “evil” in genesis. Many of them render “an evil spirit from the LORD” in 1 Samuel. But in Isaiah 45 hardly any of them use “evil” but every one uses a different and unique word. The problem is the beliefs of the translators won’t use the word “evil” because like you they think a loving god doesn’t create evil. It’s sad they’d rather insert their own beliefs into the translation rather than letting the text say what it literally says.
Calamity - oh yeah that’s a modern word. Modern vernacular for sure.
I guarantee you here “evil” 100 times for every time you hear “calamity”.

I can see how you might think that, because you don’t want to admit that your loving god creates evil and suffering. Also this translated bad word needs to be the opposite of shalom (peace/happiness) so I can see how some could translate this to “everything bad” or “misery” or “disaster” or “unhappiness”, but “evil” also fits and it is the same word translated as “evil” in the rest of the translated work.

The reasons are moot on this subject. You might also want to seriously check the Greek LXX. “Kaka” is used here for the Hebrew “Ra” in Isaiah 45:7… “kaka” is used throughout the New Testament and most commonly translated as “evil” in all translations.

I don’t have to cherry pick to dunk on ya’ll.

I’m glad you can admit that.

I can’t know better than a figment of your imagination.
quote:
You can’t think of a reason, so there must not be any good reason for bad things to happen
Certainly nothing we can point to as a cause of bad things. It’s ok to not know something and admit that. You theists pretend to know everything, and you project your faults onto others.

My first thought was “there’s no way this guy is that stupid”. That’s why I think you are lying, but maybe you aren’t. Maybe you are just that sheltered, ignorant, and deluded. C’mon man… we know the earth is a sphere, we know there is no solid firmament in the sky, we know the stars are millions of light years away and can’t fall out the sky, and modern evolutionary biology, genetics, archaeology, paleontology, and geology has shown the earth is not 6000 years old, that all live (found so far) has a shared common ancestor, that the flood of Noah not only couldn’t have happened but did not happen, that Adam and Eve never existed, that Abraham didn’t exist, that Moses and the exodus from Egypt is a fairy tale, that the land wasn’t conquered by Joshua but that Israelites were just a sect of Canaanites the whole time, and that Jesus probably didn’t exist.

Not adequate enough to prove your allegations. Else you wouldn’t converted everyone at this point. I started life out as a Christian, and it wasn’t until I started learning about the sciences and reading the Bible that I began to reject Christianity and all other religions.

You should read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17. Your prophet and apostle, Paul, believed he would still be alive nearly 2000 years ago when Jesus comes. Seems like a failed prophecy. You might want to modify your beliefs about reality.

It’s hard for me to shed a tear sometimes even for people I’ve known well. That post made me hurt for those folks. Yet, it is a beautiful story in an ugly situation so she lost her dad but he literally did what our soldiers do and died protecting what he loves
