the bills smell of drugs (and most bills that have been in circulation do) they have the "right" to seize them, regardless of whether or not drugs were found on that person. Yes, it is a scam.
If the amount of money is large enough, they’re allowed to seize it regardless. Basically over a certain amount the government can go “prove it isn’t drug money “ and keep it.

So what tipped off the dog, or do currency-sniffing dogs exist?
If they do it's not a German Shep. They don't have the most scent receptors. Cops use them because they can bring down criminals in a scuffle. But for pure smelling you need a lab.

Unless its got traces of cocaine on it as this cash probably did and that's why the pooch picked up on it.
Unless there is digital or virtual cocaine I'm not aware of, Bitcoin would be just fine.

Honestly she or whomever had her moving the money is dumb as frick. This is why you drive with it if its domestic. And if you're going to move your cash out of the country but need to keep it out of the bank to avoid a paper trail. You simply make small private chartered flights out of small airports.
Its really not that hard to take cash to the Cayman Islands :)

That is not true for domestic travel.

Title should be "Dallas PD confiscates $100,000 of cartel money from Chicago woman." I highly doubt that it was actually hers. That's why they give them a receipt. They give it to their cartel handler to avoid being killed. The cartels consider it a business expense and adjust their pricing accordingly.
Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Otherwise it is theft or authoritarian expropriation.

They recently got a combat marine. They used the dog to justify taking it even though he had countless bank receipts proving where it came from.
They take 100k from combat vet.

Not tasting any boots. Then again, I'm not rolling around with $100K of the cartel's money. If she can show any documentation of legal receipt of that money, she'll get it back. There's a 99.8% chance that they never hear from her again because it was never her money. It's just a business expense for the cartel.

You are assuming guilty to be proven innocent. You know nothing besides the fact that she had $106K on her. You are a fricking fascist and get the frick out of my country.

I’ve know numerous immigrant business owners running around with this kind of cash—every penny legally earned.

was referring to how the dog targeted the bag. It's sad your high IQ didn't pick up on that reference.
We know, and as stated there is basically little if any money that doesnt have drug residue on it.
If 9 of 10 bills are contaminated then in a stack of 100 bills there is more or less a statistical ZERO chance a dog wont hit on it.

Should have wired it or a bank draft.

Which is fricked. Do you think if Jeff Bezos was caught with a suitcase with millions in it that a police department or the Feds would try to steal it? Of course they wouldn’t.

COPS ARE HEROES!
This is disgusting. Hope she owns the police station by the time she's done.

Or done what she wanted with her money. Guess she wasn't expecting the highway robbers to be wearing badges.

$10,000 seems to be a slippery number these days what with President* Biden following the Venezuelan economic plan.

Do a bit of research and you will find that this is RARELY the case...the majority of civil asset forfeitures are ever returned, regardless of *proof*
