High praise for a K-9 officer at Dallas Love Field Airport after more than $100,000 was found in a passenger’s luggage.
On December 2 the canine — named ‘Ballentine’ — alerted on an individual checked suitcase. It turns out the bag, that belonged to 25-year-old woman from Chicago who was on a layover at the airport, contained blankets and two large bubble envelopes filled with $106,829 in cash.
The woman who owned the bag was not arrested, but the money was seized and police say it will be subject to the civil asset forfeiture process.
K-9 Ballentine is part of the Dallas Love Field Interdiction squad, which is a unit of the Dallas Police Department’s narcotics division.
Wow, openly bragging about robbing a woman blind with no evidence against her. And don’t think that people on the Federal Level won’t do this to you either if they think you have been saying bad things and going against the Feds.
Also the dog does look like the Sheriff of Nottingham, so appropriate:

Legalized theft is what this is. Cops are the enemy.

She was going to pay off AOC's college loans too!
Must be a mule. Seems that they would have to arrest her if the money is dirty. When did it become illegal to carry cash?

Disgusting travesty of justice that this allowed to happen without a criminal conviction

Title should be "Dallas PD confiscates $100,000 of cartel money from Chicago woman." I highly doubt that it was actually hers. That's why they give them a receipt. They give it to their cartel handler to avoid being killed. The cartels consider it a business expense and adjust their pricing accordingly.

Unless its got traces of cocaine on it as this cash probably did and that's why the pooch picked up on it.

So what tipped off the dog, or do currency-sniffing dogs exist?
Merely having cash isn’t grounds for forfeiture on domestic flights. The $10k limit applies only to international flights

You could probably find “traces of cocaine” on a large percentage of all circulating bills.

If the bills smell of drugs (and most bills that have been in circulation do) they have the "right" to seize them, regardless of whether or not drugs were found on that person. Yes, it is a scam.

90% of currency in circulation has cocaine residue on it genius.

She wasn't charged with a crime. Having to prove something is yours in order to keep it, when you've not even been accused of wrongdoing, is fundamentally un-American.

There can't be a criminal conviction because there's no crime committed by the mule. Carrying cash isn't illegal. They just say "fly into D/FW, take a taxi to this Denny's, and our guy will meet you". They hand off the money, then get paid $1,500. The cartels purposely compartmentalize their operations. Drugs and money are kept as separate as possible.

If this was an international flight, every cent over $10,000 is subject to forfeiture for failure to report it, regardless of any drug or organized crime variables.

We have customs rules on carrying cash into the country. I’m guessing that is at play here if it’s not drug related

Often it's the airline employees that tip off police. Someone buying a last-minute ticket, paying cash, same-day round trip, with no checked luggage sends up red flags. Drugs flow north, cash flows south.

I was referring to how the dog targeted the bag. It's sad your high IQ didn't pick up on that reference.

Let’s not be daft here, she was trying to smuggle that money and broke longstanding laws intentionally.
