Lol. That’s about the normal percentage of vents in use.
If we "open things up" ventilator use will go up. I am not sure at what percentage we begin to have no ventilators available in some critical care units. Maybe 75%? I will try to look up the number.

Could it not also be a result of a larger spread through the population? Since the case numbers are constrained by testing, if the real mortality rate was .1% then that says we have 24.7M cases which is 7.4% of our population; but, we only have 598K confirmed cases so the currently high CFR would connotate a much higher infected number.
Without extensive antibody testing to determine the penetration of the virus into the population, we have no way of knowing what the real CFR is.

We have close to 20k vents in the national reserve. The vent thing is over. Let it go.

Likely yes. I just hope that our governor doesn't misuse/misrepresent these numbers.

CD, I don't want to speak for you (your thread, and mostly your work driving it to this point, with some folks helping out here and there), but it is my opinion we should keep the "political" (Yes, I'm aware this is a Poliboard thread and I'm not saying the discussion is for another board) back and forth out of this thread and in other threads.
We've done a good job until very recently. Again, IMO, this thread would be best served as a "Breaking News" thread focused on the numbers and trends, with dozens of other threads to choose from to engage in partisan banter (of which I am certainly as guilty of as any Poliboard poster, left, right or "other".)

I just want this thing to end so we can get back to business.
I started tracking this so that I could see what was happening without having to rely on the media to tell me what was happening. After a few days, I thought it would be helpful to others to see it as well so I posted it here.
I personally think that its one of the best resources available now on the internet to see a comprehensive view of what has and is happening. If there is another site that is focused on the entirety of the dataset, I haven't found it.
