i watched the video someone posted of the interior of one of the “upgraded” stores, and it didn’t look that awful to me

Fair enough, but why were they "wrong"? They're obviously worried about getting a younger demographic into their restaurants. Will their changes do that? Who knows.
And if the food and service has been so pedestrian for so long, why get upset about the changes? Personally, I tend not to care what a company does if I'm not one of their customers.
