Why did things start getting violent? What happened to the Arabs farm land? What happened to the Arabs local economy? What did the British and Zionist soldier do the local Arab population?
When the British realized things were out of control, what did the Zionist forces during that time do to the British?
When the two sides tried to form a unified government who said no every time? When the land was partitioned for the first time and heavily favored the Jewish population giving them land that was 90% Arab, who still said no because they wanted 100%?
All of these led up to the violence. The idea that Israel is completely innocent and that criticisms of their behavior during this period is just anti semitism is completely detached from reality.
That is why I find it completely ridiculous to view this conflict from the 1950 on. By the time we hit the late 40s, the fates are sealed. The monster that is the modern Palestinian nation was formed and has only gotten worse.
If we can’t talk about why it happened and have an honest conversation about how badly the British fricked up this region then history will repeat itself.
