Could another country have the clout to send a Zimmerman Telegraph type deal now?

Yesterday was the anniversary of the publication of the Zimmerman Telegram. The telegram basically offered Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico back to Mexico for military alliance. What country, if any, could sway Mexico or Canada to engage in military conflict with the USA for promises of land.

A country that might be able to back their promise? Maybe Russia or China, but that's a pretty large maybe.

I agree with Russia and China. But in a unofficial way it seems that it would be easier to deal with the Sinaloa Cartel. They already seem to be infiltrating.

Well, Mexico would get destroyed because of the logistics of any other superpower getting to us. Mexico would essentially be sacrificing their self governance and populace for an extended period of time for a most likely failing proposition.
If they accepted anything before the US was weakened they’d be idiots.

Russia or China pose no threat to us outside ICBM Nuke threats, which would in turn assure their complete annihilation 100 fold. Russia is soft as F outside their border conflicts. They have zero naval threat. What can they do?

Setting aside the question of if China or Russia could pull it off, I doubt Canada or Mexico want 300 million + pissed off Americans on their border.

Mexico or Canada conspiring with China to start a war seems like a good way to have your entire country annexed. Hell we should annex Canada anyways at this point, they're practically a vassal state of us at this point.

The Zimmerman telegraph wasn't to start the war it was to open a 2nd front to distract. Some claim that Pancho Villa was paid by Germany to attack the US.

Mexico turned it down in 1916 because they knew they had no chance in a war with us. They would turn it down for the same reason today.
