Sylvester Turner was a solid mayor for a D. RIP. Was he perfect? No. But Houston did relatively well after Harvey and compare Houston with say Atlanta during the 2020 summer.
Condolences, first and foremost.
However, I think we are seeing that there was more corruption under Turner than was previously known.
And I gave more credit to private citizens in Houston and the Gulf Coast region than just city officials like Turner for the local response to Harvey.

I take no joy in his death, but are you serious? The guy was corrupt as hell! He would hand out city contracts to friends all the time! And then he gave his boy toy a 100k internship at the airport.

That was all thanks to Ed Emmett.

All over local news.

It is hard not to fall in line with dems and cheer on the death of opposing political beliefs, but I won't fall that far. I also won't send condolences.

Is this God saying he wants a change for this congressional district?

Wtf are you on. Lived in Houston during that time and it was a continuing downward spiral the entire time. Education went to shite, homelessness increased year over year, crime through the roof, infrastructure crumbling ect. Youre an idiot if you think he made Houston better.

He has a tweet from 15 hours ago, and he attended Trump’s speech.
They’re calling it a “medical emergency,” but he clearly has some facial paralysis going on.
He had bone cancer of his jaw. I had not seen a picture of him for a few months - he looked nothing like he did when he was mayor. Cancer sucks

you're getting downvoted, but you're right. he was a pretty solid Houston mayor. i'll join you in your downvote adventure in this thread.
compared to the other tards that get elect Mayor around this country, Turner was a genius. Far from perfect, definitely had his cronies.
Houston had much better leadership under him and Emmit than Lina and Whitmire

First it was Shelia Jackson Lee and now Sylvester. Y'all thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?
Posted on 3/5/25 at 1:59 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
Don't worry. That district will replace him with someone equally shitty.
