The main reason they were given Medicaid is because they were told to show up here in the US. They do, sick, pregnant, unvaccinated, and then they head directly to the nearest Emergency room. The ERs along the border are constantly slammed and overburdened, causing many to have to either consider ceasing operations or totally shutting down. This hurts the citizens who depend on those services being available.
The Democratic answer was to give Medicaid to them so that they could go get care. They also made laws saying they cannot be turned away if they show up for emergency care.
It is a catch-22 that staggers the imagination.
Healthcare is not free. It costs money for meds, supplies, people to work. When you stop paying people to take care of others, they will find something else to do. Humanitarian thoughts and ideas tend to diminish if you are wiping butts, delivering babies all hours of the night, and catching every virus that comes thru the door, especially if you are not being paid to do it.

California overbills medicaid to the tune of over 4 billion a year and then uses it to fund illegals.
They are caught and the feds stop it.
In addition they have a shortfall in income, due to people moving out, of over 100 billion dollars.
Seems like a bold strategy Cotton. Economics never was the strong suit of Newsome. Perhaps thats why they are in the worst financial shape of any state even though they have the largest income.

We need charity hospitals again. Where Medicaid and foreigners have to go. They clog up up the ER and cause long wait times for sick people.
