They’re leaving because lack of skilled workers. Let’s take care of our own. Improve education and access to healthcare.

They are leaving because Louisiana is a poor state with a chronically bleak future

Yeah, giving schools more money and expanding welfare always improves things.

People don’t see that. Companies don’t want to be in states that are as backwards as Louisiana and it doesn’t have anything to do with taxes.

This seems super implausible. Skilled workers will flock to decent jobs, and will move to this state for decent jobs. I ended up in Louisiana when my parents moved here for my mom’s job 20 years ago.

Education and access to healthcare has nothing to do with skilled workers staying in LA

I don’t know any young professionals who would stay in LA as long as we expanded Medicaid.

You can't improve education until you improve parental involvement at a young age. Access to healthcare should be through your employer, not the government.

That is complete bullshite. There is no shortage of skilled workers in Louisiana. The problem is a lot of them aren’t reliable and can’t pass a drug test.

Apparently, you don't interact with any companies who employ workers across various states. I know, but obviously cannot name, a multi-state corporation that closed its Louisiana terminals because of the workers' compensation laws is Louisiana. The thought was batted around for years, but the WC hits over the past few years in Lake Charles is too much for them.

Our loss works to the benefit of east Texas, where the two terminals are now located. As an attorney, the plaintiffs' bar acts as if JBE is their messiah.

Well, he is.

My parents are far more conservative than me but are about to pull the lever for that shithead for the second time. I just don't fricking get it.

Get rid of standardize testing. Get the Feds out. Oh, but teachers want their pay/benefits/full retirement pay until death.

And who the hell has ever been denied access to healthcare? Name one.
