Ummm... yeah. When we have a Verizon lawyer as the head of the FCC, and Comcast, Time Warner, AT&T etc agree not to step on each other's turf so they can't interfere fricking with other's lives, then that's where we are.

Capitalism
an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market

I'm describing concepts of Capitalism where competition in a free market prevents one corporation from screwing over everyone. If you don't think there's enough competition to keep Comcast from screwing over their customers, you should look at the reasons why there isn't enough competition, not immediately jump to government ownership or regulation.

Yeah, Comcast has been doing such a great job that it has it's own Wikipedia page dedicated to how fricking awful they are and have more complaints than their three biggest competitors combined: LINK. Great customer service to where they literally told me that my deceased grandmother had to come back from the dead to cancel her fricking cable.

So how about you shut the frick up and for god's sake please stop voting.

So this is really about Comcast sucking balls then...

Not necessarily rules that might be good or bad for some?

It's certainly a big player in why so many support NN regulation of the ISPs. That and there aren't enough options currently for the level of service desired. Since people don't have enough options to shop, we assume they will nickle and dime us on fees, throw on arbitrary data caps, and be a pain in the arse when anything isn't working.

Honestly, they probably could have gotten away with the first two if it wasn't for them being such pains in the arse to deal with.

I still can't get any of you to explain how the internet thrived for 20 years without your 2 year old regulation.

You cant be this stupid, oh wait, its you, you can be

Does having first class seats on United/Delta/American keep people from flying Spirit?

Does paying $99 for Amazon 2-day shipping keep people from getting free shipping on orders over $35?

Does valet parking keep people from self-parking?

Does park hopper passes at Disney keep people from going to Six Flags?

Does using Uber black keep others from hailing a cab?

Does having an unlimited cell plan keep people from having pre-pay service?

Yes, tiered Internet is coming, but it wont keep anyone from having access to the Internet, if they want it. At a price they are willing to pay

Well the argument your side is using is the US government. So while AT&T and Time Warner are still awful, Comcast is the worst company in the history of this country, with the exception Bernie Madoff's investment firm. I should assume anything that I think Comcast will do is what will happen. The Comcast part needs to be made clear to people that are against Net Neutrality.

What's the worst the government can do? Well I think they're largely too incompetent to pull it off. What's the worst that Comcast can do? Just destroy the internet entirely and charge you and companies that don't answer to them up the arse. It's just a flip of the switch with Comcast. Comcast and their ilk only answers to like a dozen people rather than the thousands of dumbasses that flood the government. They can't even cover for the President getting a blowjob. It's so incompetent that millions thought Donald Trump would be more competent than them.

Look at Portugal. Plus YouTube and streaming was in its infancy, so they didn't really know what was coming given that consumer created content wasn't all that much of a thing. It was still controlled by the big companies for the most part

It’s been explained repeatedly that although the regulation itself is relatively new the practice of net neutrality has been the defacto of how the internet has always operated.

The tiers being an internet speed that you would be receiving anyways vs an artificially slower speed because you (or the site you are visiting) didn’t pay up.

The short term it’s just going to be a more PITA internet although I doubt the do anything too drastic right out of the gate (Comcast though so who knows), but long term it jeapordizes US leadership of the internet. Google and Netflix are going to be fine because they’ve already made the deals and are paying, but the barriers of entry for internet startups in the US has increased so the inevitable happens and those new startups take root overseas instead.

Just because the ad says it doesn't make it so. A LA carte means you can pick and choose by single channels or networks.

How’s that router/Modem combo working out for you, since you keep talking about your internet going out and having to use mobile data.
My modem and router are doing great. Both are extremely reliable and fast. I was referring to the times when Cox experiences an outage. I'm sure that never happens with your internet/cable provider, right?

And when it happens and I'm on my iPad I just switch over to cellular data and don't notice a difference.....

NN was put on place at the right time. Innovations in content delivery has led to logarithmic scaling of data consumption by even casual users. 2017 is not 2014.
