Mine is $67.99/month for "High Speed Preferred" service from Cox.
Do you even know what that means
How’s that router/Modem combo working out for you, since you keep talking about your internet going out and having to use mobile data.

Come on bro
In previous threads you have been pushing the satellite and cell data providers are ISPs in the same realm at wired connection providers.

That is backwards
All the innovation up to now has not had netneutrality

The government is incompetent. Comcast has proven every single chance it’s ever gotten to be malicious and nefarious. They have a lower approval rating than the IRS. It’s as bizarre as saying “Hey Ted says he’s not going to kill anymore, so let’s give him another chance. 84th time may be the charm.”

That is incorrect, all of the innovation up to now has been done under the premise of net neutrality even if it wasn't codified into law until recently.

I never understood the liberal mentality of business being bad for the consumer while government is good.
Because you don’t understand the difference between capitalism and corporatism.

There is incentive for Comcast to do right by the consumers because of competition. They need to make us happy and give us stuff we want at a good price or else we bail and go elsewhere and they lose money. They want to make as much money as possible and that requires us to volunteer our money for their services over the services of their competitors. If I break their rules, they cancel my subscription and I have to go elsewhere.
You’re fricking with me, right? You can’t possibly be this stupid and understand how a keyboard works.

AT&T and Comcast lawsuit has nullified a city’s broadband competition law
AT&T and Comcast have convinced a federal judge to nullify an ordinance that was designed to bring more broadband competition to Nashville, Tennessee.
The Nashville Metro Council last year passed a "One Touch Make Ready" rule that gives Google Fiber or other new ISPs faster access to utility poles. The ordinance lets a single company make all of the necessary wire adjustments on utility poles itself, instead of having to wait for incumbent providers like AT&T and Comcast to send work crews to move their own wires.
AT&T and Comcast sued the metro government in US District Court in Nashville, claiming that federal and local laws preempt the One Touch Make Ready rule. Judge Victoria Roberts agreed with AT&T and Comcast in a ruling issued Tuesday.

Because you don’t understand the difference between capitalism and corporatism.
Corporatism
the organization of a society into industrial and professional corporations serving as organs of political representation and exercising control over persons and activities within their jurisdiction
Capitalism
an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market
I'm describing concepts of Capitalism where competition in a free market prevents one corporation from screwing over everyone. If you don't think there's enough competition to keep Comcast from screwing over their customers, you should look at the reasons why there isn't enough competition, not immediately jump to government ownership or regulation.
quote:You're not going to win friends and influence people with statements like that.
You’re fricking with me, right? You can’t possibly be this stupid and understand how a keyboard works.
Since you don't seem to understand what I was saying, I'll try to rephrase it: if there is competition between similar or same products or services in a free market, consumers can choose where to get their products or services from. They will choose the products or services that generally provides the best quality with the most options for the lowest price. If Comcast is sticking it to their customers on quality, options, and/or price, their customers will go to their competitor(s) who are offering more bang for their buck. It's why Comcast loses cable customers to Dish and vice versa and why both are losing business to Sling, PS Vu, and other streaming services. That's just how economics works. That threat of customers leaving for a competitor is what keeps Comcast (and other companies) in check. They aren't all-powerful like you think they are.
The only good thing the government can do here is to prevent monopolies from forming and encourage competition by helping reduce barriers to the market. Otherwise, they should stay out altogether.
Posted on 11/27/17 at 4:52 pm to DavidTheGnome
quote:That's not true at all.
If only that were the case. In most markets the consumers are left with only one realistic option.
But for sake of argument, let's say that were true. The solution is to encourage competition, not keep a monopoly that the state controls.

quote:who said something good? You guys sure like the setup your strawman
I’m still just in shock that people are dumb enough to think that anything Comcast wants is going to be good. Believing Comcast is up to something good like believing the same about Ted Bundy.
Companies compete. Despite the ignorance displayed on this board competition exist on multiple fronts. Not just between direct peer competitors
No human endeavor results in perfectly even results. This reality is what causes almost everyone who is in economic idiot to ask the government to try and accomplish that task. Somehow of course forgetting that government is composed of humans also.
So you guys can run around with your hair on fire all you want and beat up straw man if you like. But that's all you're doing
