"Mahdawi often refers to his family and friends slain during the conflict as inspiration for his activism. One of these men pictured in a tribute in an October Instagram post appeared to be wearing a rifle strap and standing next to someone who also wore a strap that appeared to be connected to a rifle stock."
I saw that part. As this unfolds, maybe we'll get more context with that. Based on the article in the OP though, his words are not supportive of a terrorist organization. In fact, the article points these words out as his own...
In December, he wrote on X/Twitter that the "pro-Palestine movement at Columbia has been fractured, robbed, and hijacked by hidden forces."
Maybe he agrees with folks who say Iran was behind all that.
But is he allowed to draw inspiration from dead friends and family or is that supporting terrorism?

Let there be no illusions - the same folks singing the blues that the entirety of DC hasn't been perp walked in Trump's first 100 MINUTES would be all too eager to change the subject of their ire to botched prosecutions that let the targets go free due to corrupt federal judges or not having taken long enough to ensure that the cases are airtight.

Call me cynical but I read this as more of a cry of despair that the group was fractured and failing to show solidarity. I think he became dissillusioned for lack of support and had his feels hurt by the decrease in funds that were likely coming to him from his Iranian puppets. Doesn't matter, he FAFO that coming into a country under one regime is not the same with a new sheriff in town. Biden and his corrupt pack of libtards allowed anything into this country and tolerated their actions. This administration is not doing that. more of them need to be rounded up and shown the door. This is not Europe.

Ok.
Well according to the article, these are his words as well...
I am so touched by the Jewish community that is able to see the oppression and to support the human rights and liberation of my Palestinian people," Mahdawi said on Instagram regarding a 2021 pro-Palestinian protest. "Be mindful that Judaism is not Zionism, and that so many Jews in the United States are opposing the apartheid and the discrimination of the state of Israel."
What's the "FA" part in this? The article doesn't explain that part.

But according to the article in the OP, he's not illegal, a criminal or terrorist.

Easy to find soft Jews that support Hamas, especially those living in this country and not having to suffer from the constant harassment of missiles and threats of violence. Much like the thread of Americans we find here who absolutely loathe our way of life and would support a regime that likes to behead their captives, brutally rape both men and women wile denigrating them, and would hide their facilities in hospitals and children's nurseries knowing that if attacked they can gain sympathy. yeah, all countries and groups have a bunch of weak minded individuals. In the prehistoric days they tended to be the ones that were eaten by the predators or left to starve in the wilderness.

This board takes every pro-Palestinian protestor and smears them with the broad brush of trespassing, beating up Jewish students, preventing them from going to class, and doing property damage.
No Bunk, I don’t think you understand our objections. Mine is that if the USA gives a VISA to a foreigner to come here he should behave with discretion. He is not here to protest our government. If a guest in your house started protesting the way you lived, blocked access to the bathrooms, and kept yelling you would make them leave. Well, in this case our government is you and the protestors are just the protestors. He is here as a guest of our government. Protest our government and you should expect to be no longer welcome.

Hopefully some good reporter is already digging into his citizenship interview. Was he given special fast track to this citizenship interview?
This guy seems to be a career student/activist bouncing around universities to keep his visa.
