This is so dumb.

How does one claim 1/32 native american?

This is just wrong.

She claimed native heritage because she had loose family ties to a tribe in Idaho. I mean good for her I guess.

Just listened to a podcast that covered this topic. The "elite" colleges who are doing this, which is most of them, were compared to a dead whale. Their reputation has been built over a long time, and that inertia will work for a while, but eventually you've just got a rotting carcass.
Industry that has to perform has already taken notice.
Exactly. The stop-gap solution for the university administrators will be to tell professors to stop giving bad grades to students (which is already happening) so they can keep those impressive GPAs up.
But eventually the employers will realize that it's all a ruse and will start finding the best, reliable employees regardless of their educational backgrounds.

This score range is well over what is listed as around average or middle 50th percentile on a number of other sites.
USNWR says half of the admitted applicants are 1180 to 1340.
All I know is that it came in an email from FSU. It was shocking to see.

I'm not doubting you, but the numbers have been changing quickly over the past few years, and most well known schools have seen applications increase substantially, so they can be more picky.

Same thing for immigration. We grow enough domestic burger flippers and lawn clippers and have more than ample domestic crime too.

My 2 cents
People tend to exaggerate their kids test scores and GPAs.
Standardized test scores are a good indicator of intelligence, but not an indicator of an ability to do well in a competitive environment.
A weighted GPA means nothing. A 4.6 from McDonough 35 bears significantly less weight than a 3.6 GPA from Ben Franklin.
A 1450 and good grades should get you scholarship $$ and admission to many excellent state schools and liberal arts universities, but that alone won't get you in top tier or many second-tier schools. Top tier schools just don't look for high overall GPAs as much as they look for excellent grades in a rigorous academic environment with AP and Honors classes from top high schools.
That said, wokeness agenda trumps everything above.

can tell you all sorts of ridiculous stories from inside the Stanford admissions office. My SIL is the former director of undergraduate admissions. It’s as bad as you think.
Look I’m not here to defend race based admissions police.
However, is it not “playing the victim” if you are going to blame black students for the reason you weren’t able to get into, let’s say, Stanford? Blacks make up like 7% of the students….how about some personal responsibility?

So if Stanford made a conscious decision to reduce that to 5% because campus crime was too high, a black kid who just missed the cutoff shouldn't be complaining. He should have worked harder to improve his chances and get into that 5%.

And that was already happening, starting at the high school level, in most states where a 3.0 or 3.5 got you free tuition at a state school. Nobody wanted to be the reason little Susie lost her Hope Scholarship. It continued in college due to the silly USN&WR rankings that they all chase now, with the tail completely wagging the dog.

Only when the standards are applied equally. They’re not and you know it.

Beg your pardon?
You can slice it however you want. 7% of the student body isn’t stopping you from getting admitted to a school. Although I know it’s easier to play the victim than to actually take some personal responsibility.
I’ve been fortunate to attend some of the top institutions (humble brag), and let me tell you—one thing that was not lacking was white people

Sounds like a little socialistic redistribution of school performance is working as intended.
My son went to gifted schools in NYC. The kids that got in via the diversity boost just became the dumbest kids in the class. Kids who earned their way in by merit did well no matter what color their skin.
